Depends on how thick it is. Probably needs to be 1/4 inch or more, not sure how thick compressors usually are. Most people use old propane tanks. I built mine out of 24 inch standard wall pipe (3/8") I bought from a welder at work, I gave him $100 for it.

You should look on your local Facebook Marketplace.

I bought this 250 gallon propane tank for $120, haven't got started on this build yet.

What does that smoker weigh made out of 24" pipe?

I don’t know, it’s pretty dang heavy.

97 pounds per foot just for the pipe, it’s 53 inches long.
