I welded that 2G pipe with 2.5mm electrodes (3/32)
and those 5G and 6G with 2mm electrodes.
Electrodes where Esab Ok 63.20 (E316L-16)

Material thickness is 2 millimetres, and pipe is 80mm wide.

Yes there is a 1.6mm rods, the smallest one I have seen is 1.5mm rod. I think it was made by avesta.
Old guys around here say, that they welded test´s for 1.6mm pipe with stick and man was it difficult with 1.6 rod,
but when I gotted those 1.5 rods, it became weldable, never tested it though, becouse you dont need a test for so thin pipe
for stick today..

2mm test is common here around pipe welders and a lots of it stainless pipe is welded with stick, (at paperfactorys etc.) they say that most of stainless
stuff is being welded with stick around here.
I think why its used so much, is the thing it being a lot cheaper, then tig.
And for me stainless pipe is much more fun to weld with stick. :D

Yes it goes, and very easy to weld also, when there is no problems with gas.. Thats the only weakness I find with tig, gas.
Is specially when you have long stainless steel lines to put a place bead with tig. Many times there is some problems with gasses.
With stick you dont have to worry about that, just go and weld.

I'm not getting it. No disrespect meant here.

Arc length, whip and pause, and travel speed look all over the place to me. BUT the beads and slag are awesome.

What am I missing?

Haha :D
Yes it looks, but you have to do some tricks when you are welding this thickess, some times it starts to blow thru so you have to go backwards, you harve to turn
pipe so you can go a little bit more downhill.. and sometimes cap gets so small, you have to put little bit more amperage and kind of jump with your rod. Very hard for me to
explain couse I aint native english speaker..

But as they say around here. Welding is in your eye, not in your hand ; )
