My dad bought this old Forney at an auction sale in 1974 (I'd have been 8 years old), took it home and put it in the shed. I brought it home with me on the weekend, he's still never plugged it in.
Electrician wired me in a 220v 50 amp receptacle in my garage today while I was at work, I went out after supper and gave it a go.
Much to my surprise, it works like a charm. Work cable in high ground and positive in 120 and ran a few beads of 6013 1/8 on a piece of scrap. Seems to be easier to strike and hold an arc than the Thunderbolt I've been practicing with in the shop where I work. (I'm very much a beginner)
Won't be much of a restoration though other than a wipe down, although the battery charger that chme with it needs new clamps.
