Welcome ! English is good, no big deal. Most guys here can't read anyway. :D

Table will work fine, as for thin top not being flat, if it's not too difficult you could bolt it down and shim as required to get flat. As for too high, just get a adjustable stool.

I noticed the mitered corners on the top, that will save some bleeding for sure. Might consider doing the corners on the plates for casters too. I know I would hit them daily.

I don't have a lot of room in my garage so after looking at a ton of welding table pictures I came up with this set up. I just weld for the fun of it so what I have here works for me. View attachment 1247511
Nice ! Now you need to make or buy a stand for supporting the material in chop saw on the other side. That's nice having the table the same height as chop saw base, many guys here have done the same. Sure makes life easier. :cool2:

BKToad, nice ! I like the color too. You may consider maybe adding a piece of sheetmetal above your machine and maybe regulator too. You could drop something in between the slats and hit machine or get weld spatter on it. I know I would definitely drop something.. I prefer a independent cart for machine . With a cart your machine can be positioned for minimum cable bend at machine. If you look at your picture the cable has a pretty tight bend which can affect wire feeding and possible kink wire. I know the cable is coiled in its holder. It appears any welding on table that the cable will have a bend. Normally the straighter the better. I'm not trying to offend you just saying.

Tickets to Vegas are a lot cheaper too... what's the name of the show and date?
FABTECH is great !!! You can apply for FREE TICKETS too. I have been to it in Vegas, Chicago, and this week in Atlanta. Talking to vendors the BEST and largest is Chicago and Vegas second. Atlanta was nice but small and not as much freebies. I'll post later some pics on this years goodies.

Hi Pat, well I registered for it but wasn't sure when I was going. I was in Jacksonville Florida and stopped on way home. My wife was with so I didn't have much time. We left Florida because of her RA flare up.
I wasn't on Weldingweb for awhile. Too busy Visting and having fun. I wish I would have check this.
Well here's my goodies. I got 32 wheels/ DISCs. A unusual freebie were two 12" disc. The backpack us really nice. Sorry we couldn't meet up.

Nice !!!! You did great !! Was this your first Fabtech show ? Atlanta is small compared to Vegas and Chicago is huge. I talked to vendors that I received 1/2 X 18 sanding belts in the other shows. Sadly they didn't bring any this time. I said I came just for the belts ! Atlanta isn't as busy as the others so they didn't bring everything.
I really cleaned up at Walters. I only had limited time so I hit the ones I did best on last year. The backpack us my favorite and two 12" discs.
Sorry I couldn't meet up with you guys.

I hoping Morse comes through. I talked to them about blades for portabands which I use and sawzall blades. Then saw there display on the big blades. Talk to him about my ELLIS 1600 and I was considering trying Morse. We talked about teeth and told him what I use. He said I'll send some for you to try. He scanned my card so we'll see.
I sure hope so that'll be really nice.

Pat, I saw those squares before. I think they were $80 and $100 each. They did have a square bundles available too.
If I had more time I would have looked.
They seem pretty slick.

Post your location for a start. What type of work do you plan on doing ? There's pros and cons of having holes in a table . With a plain solid top you can tack a clamping device to it. There are lots of ideas and discussions here if you do a search.

Getting ready to put a little 3' x 4' light duty welding table together for yard art and whatnot. Got a piece of 1/4" plate for the top, 8" casters for it to roll on, and miscellaneous tubing and angle steel for the structure.

My question to the group is:

How tall are you, and what height do you prefer the top of your work table to be?

I'm 6'0" and 40" +/- seems about right but I'm curious what others like.

Thanks.
My artwork table is 38" tall, I'm 5'-11".
Manny tables are 36". I stand most of the time but when sitting on stool it's comfortable resting elbows on table if needed.
Do a mock up to tell what feels best. A friend has his table at 40" and he's 6'-2"

That PSA welding kit is definitely the Master Welder version. It has the 3" wide cover pass black tape.
The beginers kit, only had the basic 1" and 2" wide. PSA is the "Mans" man !!
He should consider adding the Gorilla Double face tape too. It has its place too.

Another Shootr's (probably) dumb idea:

I've thought and talked about wanting a fixture type table. For retirement. My trusty 1/4" topped is serving me well and steel around here is priced like gold.

What if I just drilled a pattern onto mine, and tack some appropriate sized nuts underneath?

Another question - do the clamps that just fit into table holes and wedge themselves in by friction - are the pins sized to work with threaded holes, or do they have some holes plain, and some threaded?

EDIT: Hmmm, just watched a video of someone making a table saw table into a welding fixture table. Uses vise grips as clamps.
Maybe consider the Harbor freight one 36''x24'' for $180.00 https://www.harborfreight.com/36-in-x-24-in-modular-welding-table-with-welding-fit-up-kit-59403.html
No idea if it's worth it and I haven't seen one.
