I've been scrolling through some of the forum, and mind you I am still really new to welding (getting better though), and I have a question with welding tables...
I am about to start building myself a welding table for my work room (no purchased one will fit), and I am trying to come up with the best design for my use. Browsing through some pictures, I started seeing some things I hope someone can tell me something about.
1. Holes in the welding table. I noticed tools seem to work with them for clamping down work, but I am curious how they stay clean and functional and what tool options (don't know terms to search for) are available or even what they are really for.
2. proper thickness... I am only really doing light work here, things like a bird feeder, new gate latch, tow behind spray cart... so I don't need anything massive. What are people's thoughts on how thick a welding table should be?
3. Material... I purchased a welding table from HF to get me started, and I don't know what kind of metal it's made of, but if I made one, what should I be making it of? I've only welded mild steel so far.
