You can very cheaply buy a ready to rock #9 or #17 air cooled setup. Torch kits are all over eBay. Add a regulator and a bottle of your choice and you're ready to tig.

Yes, they are the bare basic setup. But until you get a handle on it and understand just what you'll need they are the way to go.
 
Expensive and quality do not always equate. Sh!tty little machine is sh!tty little machine and will frustrate youto no end.

I cut my teeth on a lincoln 100@ buzzer, it was miserable and infuriating. I fought that pos for about 3 months and only got about 3 welds out of it. Literaly as soon as i got my hands on a 200@ i was laying solid beads. Weak underpowered machines suck unless you already know what youre doing.
