Today, our govt. is a train wreck (understatement) and doomed (my feared opinion).

Now-a-days, a large number of our elected officials are cut from the same cloth as Boss Tweed. When Politian's spend millions of dollars of their own money to get elected for a $ 250 K annual salary job... you have to know it's a lucrative $$$$$ set up.

My big pet peeve is our 2 party system nurturing votes with entitlement. Whether it be government jobs on one side or welfare recipients on the other.

I agree. A politician justifies being a 2 faced liar. Like the old saying "Kissing a baby while stealing their lollipop". I don't care as long as their allegiance is not with special interests, but with their country as a whole. I know, pretty broad statement there.

Same with Chinese goods. Literally they will say anything to get a sale, because little do they have to back up their claims. I buy filler rods and wires, and must have test reports go along with them. If the docs are scribbled in hieroglyphics I send them back. One of my customers is a watchdog and expects a handwritten signature. All my alum filler metals are made or drawn in USA, period.

My Pet Peeve is War (stupid involvement) by the USA.... as our Soldier's Blood Drips from the USA Company's Profit Dollars ! ! !

War has been Big Business by the (since Vietnam) USA for over 50 years, this statement is Absolutely Correct ! ! !


I retired in 2004, after thirty years in the Army. I started off as helicopter pilot in Vietnam. I remember, Lady Bird Johnson had Business Interests in -- Bell Helicopter (manuf. of Huey & Cobra Helicopters) , Sea Land & Air (transport of supplies to Vietnam) and other business involvement(s). You would be very surprised to know how much Lady Bird Johnson was worth.... millions & millions of blood soaked dollars. Over 53 K killed in Vietnam, also, the wounded .. say another $ 200 K Soldier's that had serious injuries or mental scaring for the rest of their life.

I was in the Middle East too and got to know them and it ain't good. I went into the Special Operations in 1983, TF 160th, the Blackhawk Down Unit. I received briefings and spec. ops. schooling on how -- Terrorist operated, and how fanatical they are. They are totally committed to killing Infidels (we don't get that fact in the USA). The Muslim religion passed the Catholic religion in numbers, this was about two years ago. They are multiplying in great numbers, (about) 4.5 children average per family. Here in the USA and Europe.. about 1.2 children per family. We do not have, we will never have Wage Earners in the (near) future to support all the entitlement programs; it's mathematically impossible, this math is based on population growth.

The USA borders have been open for years & years and will stay that way. The USA (unofficially) want's thousands of people to enter into the USA to boost our population decline. However, it's being handled all wrong. Illegal aliens have been a big drain on the US economy. They are not paying in, they are pulling out bucks i.e. SSI & Medical Entitlements $$$$.


Back to War is Big Business. Bush knew that Iraq did not have Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). You can see that in Colin's Powel's face in the clip where Bush announced his decision to enter back into war (claiming WMD) with Iraq. Colin Powel, did not accept a 2nd term with Bush... as Secretory of State. C. Powel, had enough of the lies (BS). He knew the WMD claim was BS. He would not tolerate the continuation of the lost of life by our Fine Soldiers... for Nothing but Greed $$$$.

I was over in the Middle East in 2011 to do an assessment of ~ Apache Helicopter Attack BN. I was shoulder to shoulder with (about) 30 X Army Colonels that had served in the middle east and had combat commands. I conducted my own poll and approached them separately. I asked ~ " Did we accomplish anything that (peace) in the Middle East that will last ? " 2nd Question ~ " Did we Sacrifice our Soldiers for Not ?!? "

Some of the Colonels had wet eyes (ans. was No), some were short in their response... I don't think so, the peace will not last there. If you follow the history of the Middle East, they have been at war with each other since Christ was a Corporal (fig. of speech). They hate each other, no trust of any kind between them. This middle east debacle.... gives new meaning to the words... three way blood feud and hopeless resolvement between them.

I mourn our fallen soldiers with wet eyes...it's hurts my heart that much. Some of our Soldiers are all torn to hell. They've lost their limbs, some are burnt, they're severely disabled for life. We have No business in the Middle East, we never should have got involved over there. We should have left the Middle East Country's settle their own problems. They've been at each others throats since BC times, something like 2100 + years.

Also, they laugh at us, " the stupid infidel, " they are not worthy people. We will bleed them dry and they'll go home (nothing changes here), yes, the stupid infidels... when will they ever learn... stupid infidels.. an inferior race.

Yes, War is Big Business in the USA. The blood drips from our Fine Soldiers Service. I Mourn them everyday, and All for Not in the End...No lasting change in middle east. We're War Mongers , basically for CORP Greed, it's how we do business here... it's 100 Wrong.

Just for the record, I'm an independents type voter and supporter of the Tea Party Movement. We need govt. change asap for Us, for the American (worker) People. Not bigger govt. to beat us down... into a Socialist type Govt. (distribute the wealth BS).

Chinese goods? Cheap party favors that the average communist may purchase? Yes. Subsidized big ticket items that the average communist can't buy? No.

I also have a hard time believing the communist factory worker has any pride in a chinese welding machine they just put a label on.

Who gives a sh!t that you're a business owner, all you want to do is cry about my entitlements. Explain to me exactly when these entitlements are going to kick in, far as I can remember I earned every dam dime I made out there building America. Thanks to people like me you have a bridge to cross, or a freeway to drive down, or a high rise office to set your fat a$$ in and talk down to people who build America every day! You profit off the sweat of others! Stop playing welder, and try it for a living! For right now I'm going to let you off easy, you want to keep going I'm more than glad to really hand you your a$$!

Speaking of your entitlements. Explain to me why the taxpayer may have to bailout your union pension? The way I see it is your employer better pay more premium or you better receive less benefit. Not foist the bill on me. And this country goes deeper into the abyss. Chinese food anyone?

Bravo and kudos to those pulling that kind of bank. It's fine to be rich though that's not "elite" rich and folks in that income group are still subject to getting boned by the powerful. Having that income doesn't mean one has to obligate it to overhead. What precisely is your point? 78K/year isn't "public housing" territory, it's upper middle class by the numbers end of story. If one cannot live on that much and that is what they earn then a personal readjustment is in order.

78/k per year would bankroll another business for me and put people to work, and have money left over to pay my property taxes. Gotta work that tax code.

a breath of fresh air as we switch to the original topic. i hate them too.

I get Harbor fright orbital sanders for blending welds, but they only last a few months. I finally got my Matco dealer to rebuild my Detroit National orbital sander for $225. Seeing as it will last 100 times longer than the cheap $29 Chinese crap, it is worth it. When my wife gave me the stink-eye, I explained and she ordered a new one as well for $300. It is an investment in our future she explained. Just the fact that we could get our 20 year old workhorse rebuilt was a plus.

I think we're in a losing battle, oh he!! we've already lost. I think the beginning of the end is when our government gave tax incentives to corporation to go off shore. Look how many Americans that put out of work!

Yep, good old NAFTA. Nafta should be put out to pasture like the Patriot Act.

the war of american made work boots and tools is over and i'm afraid we lost. the rest is coming with corporate bailout, entitlements (by anyone's definition) and the sloth of the next generation. however, i'm of the opinion that tomorrow will be a better day.

I keep thinking there still is a future for America also. But it is getting harder and harder to keep the faith as long as apathy persists. I keep doing my part for little return. Kids don't know how hard we have worked, as well as knowing what real work is. It is not just a paycheck for showing up.

American made boots and tools are still out there. We just have to search them out.

Don't forget the Chinese floated over that Oakland-Bay bridge, and it has been nothing but trouble.
