That's probably how I would attack it, as well. I suspect a wire wheel would quickly bring it down to clean shiny steel, and would "self clean"...

Pretty much the same prep for 7018 works for dual shield or inner shield. Mill scale , light rust and small amounts of oil or grease are no problem ....

It’s a tire rack on back of Jeep. It had rubber strips silicones on for rubbing protection. I want to clean it, repair a few welds, and then repaint.
