Past-due for a yearly check-in. Any news on the project?

Edit - looks like the OP hasn't been active here on the forum since 7/23/2015. That isn't a good sign....

    Re: 1936 SA200 Restoration

Hello, has anyone heard from Andex to see if he has made any progress on his rare welder project? I enjoy his video, I'm starting to redo my 49' Shorty and repaint my 61' Red/Blue face in the process. My plan is to make it so the Shorty runs on propane which I got a used batch of parts necessary to do so from the local Forklift Repair/salvage man. And even though I have my Red/blue running good so far, I found a lead for a Isuzu 2.2 C232 Diesel out of a Chevy Luv I would like to see if I get that isuzu and make it run if I can get it installed and working well in the Red/Blue face

Just read through the whole thread, and all I can say is WOW!

I was really hoping you'd have it done by the time I got to the end because I hate waiting, but I guess things worth having are worth waiting for.

I have a 1936 I am restoring for a gentleman that has the hercules IXB-5 engine generator and everything is exactly like yours. Have it torn down now and suprisingly it is in really good shape. The oil in the crankcase is very clean. Supposedly it was kept inside. Did find minor damage to the wiring from rodents lol.

    Re: 1936 SA200 Restoration

Regarding the crud in the water jackets, and that pipe plug: did you consider pouring a gallon or two of muriatic acid into the water jacket? Also known as concrete etchant, commonly sold at the big-box home improvement stores. The stuff will eat any rust, lime, sediment etc right down to the bare iron. Then maybe pour some glyptal into the water jacket to coat and seal it afterwards.

Precision Alloys Company (Palco) also makes cast iron welding rods. FYI
This shop is in Nevada Iowa, if this is what you referencing. Had a Detroit 4-53 head done here.
