Thanks man. My jig is a little tight, at some point I will do as you suggested drill a hole, move the material drop a pin in, and drill another hole, repeat. You folks are great

I completely forgot to follow up on this thread.
Here is what I came up with. I got 24 drill bushings and found a machines to drill and tap them in some flat stock. They are spaced every two inches. I clamp the flat stock down and use a center punch to mark hole location. The I built a simple jig one for 3x2 rectangular tubing and another for 3x3 square. I got long 1/4 drill bits from McMaster-Car and drill thru both sides in one shot. Then I come back and use a 5/8 drill bite. It works perfectly. The magnetic drill is a big time savor.Attachment 1716185Attachment 1716186Attachment 1716184

Wouldn't a gang drill that can get several steps done at once be more appropriate here? Just looking at this from a man-hours POV.

I got the Mag drill on Friday and started making my jig. I ran out of energy, too much going on. I will hope post Monday. I'm going to copy your second design. Drill, slide the work piece, drop the pin in the hole just drilled. then flip and hope the holes line up.
    Thanks for all your help.

The 5/8 are for J hooks, The 1 3/8 is for pipe to make chin bars, the 2 3/8 is for sleds the 1.5" pipe fits perfectly into 2.38 DOM.

Best method to drill hundreds of holes

    I kind of figured. [emoji3]

What’s the BIG hole for? Radius for the “j” hook?

I just looked at the price for a 2 3/8 annular. Hole saw it is.

That very nice of you. I have to check on annular cutter sizes. My local wedding store sell Fein drills. I will get a price Wednesday. If its to much I talked to Hougen they recommended the HMP 917.

A 2 3/8” hole saw may work with a drill chuck adapter on a mag drill. The other two sizes would be affordable and efficient with annular cutters.

Let me know if you change your mind, as you are more than welcome to it.

Reebz. Are you planning on buying a mag drill? If you are, you are welcome to this jig. I can send it out to you (on my dime of course)

You may need to change the containment platform depending on the dimensions of your drill’s base.

    PM me.

Haha. I looked back at my post. I was comparing the precision of my welded clip on guide to the nicely machined one TJS shows in his video. [emoji3]

There was no precision loss. The pin is lifted out and reinserted manually. Still foolproof. Spring loaded pins would be ideal.

Please keep in mind I just mocked this up as an experiment trying to help the OP with a device that could be fabricated by fellow NON pro.[emoji3]

Awesome. NOW order yourself enough arbors to have one dedicated for each cutter.

Try using a few different sizes on a project and you will thank me later.

Should be able to, yes. I didn’t try it for the photo as I didn’t have the 2”DOC cutter in the drill.

The whole assembly would need to be elevated slightly to allow the annular cutter to break through or clearance provided beneath it.

I’m certain you will find the process way quicker also as the drilling only took 2-3 seconds and another 10 seconds or so to slide the tube and locate in the next position.
