Re: Thermal Arc TA185 repairs? If anyone is familiar with these welders, the 'flip down' clear shield that covers the setting knobs & buttons, (a simple molded plastic item), a replacement one was almost $200. I have learned to live without it.
Re: Thermal Arc TA185 repairs? i'm sure someone good with electronics would be willing to take that off your hands. If it turns on and strikes an arc, it's not a total loss (yet) if i wasn't so far away (shipping would be pricey) i'd give you more than nothing for it. The TA185 is a great machine!

Re: Thermal Arc TA185 repairs? All of my local suppliers don't deal with Thermal Arc. It was a nightmare trying to get the one that did to process a warranty claim when TA was still in business, and they only ended up slapping a label on the box to ship it after I had done the leg work.
Re: Thermal Arc TA185 repairs? Check several welding supply houses, one of them probably will have an outfit that does their repairs and can take care of that for you. Your supply house is your friend. Bob
Thermal Arc TA185 repairs? Does anyone know who/if anyone services the Sanrex-built Thermal Arc machines these days? We had a lightning strike the other evening which damaged several electronics in the house, and the TA185 was one of the casualties. Powers up and will strike and arc, but fan/cooling circuit is dead and the blue smoke of death is making its way out the back of the case just after it's come on. Unit is going on 10 years old and worked flawlessly otherwise, hate to toss it in the trash and fork over big bucks for a new AC/DC/Pulse inverter machine I'm located near Charlotte, NC if it matters. Thanks!
