    Re: Replacement Mig gun

Just for a home shop a basic gun would be fine. Miller has new guns now but the M-25 that came on the 252's was not a very durable gun. For a home shop where someone was really careful it was OK but in a welding shop didn't hold up. I worked in a shop with 6 252's and they kept replacing the guns with more M-25's instead of getting the much better Bernards. They would have saved money in the long run. There was always at least 2 guns hanging up because they were damaged. I had to steal a gun off another machine so I could do my work. Too bad if someone else needed the other machine.

Bernard would be an upgrade and are owned by ITW which also owns Hobart. That would be the obvious choice.
They are super nice. I had a 300 amp Q gun for my MM 252, and I loved it, but they are also spendy. For a Hobart 210 MVP, the $89 HTP gun is more than adequate and is an upgrade over the stock gun. Just my opinion FWIW

I haven't tried to splice a mig cable... I guess anything is possible ??? you could find a rigid sleeve that fits around the liner guide and make sure to chamfer the ends really good on the liner.... might work...

Is there some reason you can't just patch the cable?

An x-ray will not tell if the rod was in an oven. Many things can cause a weld failure.

But cover I live in California.
When trying to sue first thing first x-ray the weld and check see did everything right.

Most of tools was made in America.
Just try buying low cost anything in USA or even high cost.

FYI I was exporting for over 30 years.

That sucks man, I've never had that pleasure but I have cut a welding lead or two, Ebay usually has a good selection and pretty good prices, you can also check some of the online welding stores and AMAZON.
