First picture is a side view of both polarity and range switches. Each is two switch segments bolted together. The next series of pictures show the switch coming apart. The broken hub.
All 4 segments had to be disassembled, cleaned and regreased with electrical grease.
The grease found in these switches was found to be dry and hard. That is way they would not move and the hub broke. I caught the range switch just in time. as one contact had just started arcing. I was able to polish it up and save it. Assembled the switch group and made sure it worked smoothly.

Received the manual. Got the part number for the spider (hub) and thermal arc has them is stock. price is around $44. Soon as I get the new hubs I will disassemble both switches.
Clean them up and assemble them. I will take pictures of the different steps and post them.

BTW...the part number for the switch as listed in the book is 200825-1, or 200825-2. Our computer system omits dashes in part numbers. The book says that the range switch and selector switch are the same, but I suspect you already knew that...

I have the manual in-hand. I need to figure out if I can scan it into a .pdf, or if I will need to make a hard copy. Might take a couple more days to sort this out, but I'll let you know...

Worked on a lot of these switches. The grease gets hard and the owners never move them. Then one day they try and snap they break the spider. In the past is was easy. order in a spider, clean out the old grease and regrease with electrical grease and assemble.
Fixed a lot of them that were just stuck and had not been broken yet.
Hobart used this style switch in a lot of welders.

The guy that bought the TR-300-HF that we sold (because the high freq went out) rebuilt the high freq panel using parts he cannibalized from an old add-on high freq box he had laying around. He says it welds as good as ever!

Yours looks like it did the same thing mine did..
The (I call them calipers) look like they melted and stuck to the spider where they were and when you went to change the polarity the switch broke from the force..

I really think you need the whole switch rather than just the spider but the switch I have has new calipers in it and was working fine until the Hi Freq went south..

After some searching I found a pic of the switch..
It's out of a AR250HF but I think they are all the same..

I might be able to hook you up. We sold a TR-300-HF recently, and the manuals went with the machine. The purchaser is willing to let me make a copy. If I get it, I'll PM you to figure out how to get it to you. In the meantime, the part number you're looking for might be 2008251. Make sure to look at it before you buy, in case that's not the right number.

I need the part number for the spider in side the polarity switch.
I might still be able to get them but thermal arc will not look up part numbers for these welders. They will sell you the part if you have the number and its on their shelf.
