Agree on tying the ends together - currently just plastic capped - but know - the right thing to do is connecting them. Will lower impact stress compared to when the nose of a ski digs into the ground - and that's better for equipment and future NFL stars bodies! Right now - it's plenty a$$ heavy for these 10 yr olds. Plus I have the weight plate mounting post as well - but it'll be refreshing to take out the grinder for something other than a recent weld

OK, that's it. I gotta have a beer in your honor Terry, cheers [emoji481]
I think a "Cheer leader " on the chair would really be an incentive. [emoji23]

Maybe set it up for someone to stand on or to set weights on it.

I don’t play football and I know they make sleds like this but I’d be inclined to loop the ends together.

Nice job you done with that, that young fella will get lots of use from it

    Football Blocking Sled

My son (10 yr old) LOVES tackle football after playing in his first (abbreviated) season this past fall. So I made him a blocking/tackling sled from some scrap shipping steel I had laying around - bought the pad online. Flame bend the ski's using an O/A torch and welded a plate post so we can stack those 45lb plates up and really make him work it! Depending on how hard and high he hits it I might need to plug some skid plates into the front tips but the weight of the a$$ end and pad itself might be enough to prevent that for now! ..... I'm pleased - he is super excited - so that is all that matters! Thx for looking
