Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? I would have said 85K range.

Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? I think the guy will give me the opportunity to match price, but I'm a small shop without much space to be honest, I only have 2 guys full time, Less than 2000 square feet Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? I suspect somebody that does it on a regular, can knock it faster and make money. This is easy money for them. Seems like it was just labor, space and simple logistics. Hope that is the case, anyway. Now you have an idea for the next production opportunity.

Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? That lucky. Almost I did they the steel primered. Only time I did need to paint if was for concrete. Dave Originally Posted by MetalMan23 There's no painting Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? There lot more time spent in welding and {jigging & cutting} up the part than handling and painting the parts. Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? If I handle everything, then bring parts in pre-cut, plates burned/punched. If finishing (powder coat or galvanizing) is the final step, then have them package for shipping. I don’t know a man industrial painter, so that would be a challenge. The welding might be the most difficult to sub, but being repetitive you may be able to hire folk just for this.
Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? If there is someplace to sub them to, kind of suspect this has already went down this road part way. In the end someone has to weld them.

I know I make money with what i do. However, repetitive stuff seems like getting quality folk and systems in place to complete the job. Just take the profit without trying to capitalize on minimal amount of help. I partially took this particular job to give an employee a large volume of welding practice. However he worked at a 1 to 3 ratio compared to me. So, it work out fairly well as I was the elf on his 2 off days/ week. If parts do not come in all at once, then you will need a dedicated space to work when they do show up in batches. Also, will you be available or have somebody who can jump on them. I have had jobs like that and it can become annoying.

Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? Went from 52 rolls to 24, saved 5 large on wire alone. Prolly 1/3 less time.
Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? More money for the welder? Most time this comes from a book on steel structures and you have no choice. Dave Originally Posted by Sberry 5/16 is really a big weld. Like I say, 1/4 4x4 tube to weld to inch plate, 3/16.

Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? The smaller the weld the faster the job will be done with the least amount of wire and gas. I’d think you can get 275 feet or more using a 1/4” weld using 30 pound spool.
Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? 5/16 is really a big weld. Like I say, 1/4 4x4 tube to weld to inch plate, 3/16.
Re: How many inches of weld per roll of wire? I figured that was a guess,,,,, recalc how much it would take at 3/16 which is likely adequate if either piece is in the 1/4 thickness range. Thats why all this is pretty much mental masturbation. Would save 5000 just in wire with proper sized bead. As for by the hour,,, if they willing to pay 150 per man to fiddle with this then great but this is something I would really wanna bid. Figure the cost with all that as a margin if they will buy it and use 30 rolls vs 50 or 25 instead of 39 at the same speed per roll, 40 less weld hours off the clock, maybe more. Less wait time from the handling help, it would start to add up.
