Some do the "sas", but usually only once......the grammer hammers get them.

K'kins is the only one who has a debit card. I won't have one........too dangerous IMHO. I don't like them because they're linked to your bank account, whereas a credit card ain't.

I carry one credit card with no PIN# activated. I just feel safer if nobody has any more access than necessary if I should lose the thing,, or get the number pirated. Matter of fact...........I had to pay at the pump a few weeks back because I'd forgotten my mask at home. I immediately canceled the credit card, and got a new one that evening. Card readers at pumps are generally WIFI. All somebody has to do is sit in the parking lot, and get your number. Or substitute their card reader in the pump.

Even with my "safety" measures, I'm sure I'm vulnerable in some way. It's a dangerous world out there.

I hadn't planned on buying more than one tire, just enough to get back running again. And, I couldn't ask the guy to take a check from someone midway down the State. These were in Miami, about maybe 2, or so miles from the State line. once you actually got to the doood's place.. Almost in Missouri.

Sad thing is............a trip like this used to be sorta fun. Stop and eat somewhere along the way always is fun for me (she didn't come this time,, and I can't blame her). But this damn Covid thing makes it impossible to stop anywhere. I had a good breakfast, and didn't eat till I came home.

K'kins said she'd come next time, so we can pack a picnic sorta thing, and stop somewhere on the way down, or way back, to eat. Eating is my biggest pleasure when traveling these days. I've gotten HUGELY tired of driving. I hate it these days. I'm not young anymore................but I still push it. Don't stop till the trip is over. Can't shake the old ways I guess.

Thing is...........if the dood got off on screwin' me outta 40 bucks.............like the dood that screwed me on a hay deal last Winter...........why lose sleep over it. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO PAYS THE PRICE IN HYPER TENSION, AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. I like life on an even keel. K'kins agrees. It's why we're still together, and happy as clams. We enjoy life.

Most of the people that screwed me over the years are in the grave. I'm still here, and enjoying life. There's somethin' to be said for that.

Back when I used to sell hay............I delivered to this ol' guy. Had to back into the place where he wanted me to tip the trailer.

I'm lookin' in the mirror............AND THE DOOD IS TAKIN' A DUMP NEXT TO A HAY BALE. Wiped his butt with toilet paper he carried around in his overalls. That was the old timers. They're mostly gone now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and I sure miss those old guys. Life was more interesting back then. Nowadays it's all tight assed young doods that think they know everything on the Planet..............................Give 'em time says me...........they'll come around.........or they'll die of heart attacks

    Re: Farmersammm's Tire Repair

    Now, here's a funny

I'm back on the road, heading home...........and the dood's wife calls me up on the cell phone. They could only find $380. (Which ain't my problem mind you..........I counted the money out in his hand).

I told her I came with 500, and would count what I had left (although I KNEW what I had left). Call back, tell her I got 100 bucks in my wallet, and maybe they ought to look around the yard for the 20 bucks.

About maybe 2 minutes later, she calls me back, and tells me that her husband found the other 20 in his boot.

Now.......my take on this........... Daddy tried to slip some beer money out of the pot before he gave it to Momma

Life is good out in this part of the country. People are weird, and they're entertaining. Ya can't ask for more.

Interesting. Just about 4 years ago, I met a guy at a crossfit gym...he wanted to bring his invention to life. He said, getting tires was no problem. Folk were looking for ways to get rid of them. I guess one man trash tires is actually his treasure chest at $325.

    Re: Farmersammm's Tire Repair

When we were kids, our Grandfather gave us an old tractor tire to play on. It was from a Allis and wasn't very big, maybe 4 feet or so. We used to roll it around and jump on it.

One day the milkman (remember those) noticed it laying in the yard and told Mom that it was a lot better than one he had on his tractor, would she swap? She said OK, and we got a more used tire, the milkman got a better used tire and everybody won.

Why I remember that, I don't know. But not everybody had a tractor tire in the yard in the town we lived in.

Wow!!!, see lots of people selling 'crossfit' tires these days... there's even a few on craigslist around here. Hard to say on the ebay ones if they don't do something to them 'required by law' like the discount places around here would do with seconds and 'other' blems which involved cutting holes in the sidewall.

Actually.........if I could take a look at the actual tire the dood sells for "workout tires", I might find it acceptable for use. Might be better than what I got on there now.
