    I have used this process for firewalls, Lag pockets, wheel wells, and dashes for the street rods I built.

    There is a guy who makes vintage jeep body parts that way to sell.

    He makes the form out of solid steel.

    When needing a belt guard or other similar shaped items there is a process called hammer forming to shape sheet metal to weld into a complete item.

    Grinder Wheel Guards

    Finally got around to fabricating some wheel guards for a 1922 Canedy-Otto #3 pedestal grinder that I renovated. Made some modern improvements to make it useable. The flat pulley was replaced by a v-belt sheave, the Babbitt bearings replaced by pillow blocks, 12" wheels and an electric motor installed.

    Haven't been able to find any info about it other than one vintage ad from 1922.
