The MoonShiner apron arrived today. AWESOME quality. Made in USA. May cut off 4" of lower length to streamline the getup.

GREAT !!! I did post about their free shipping too. The apron has saved many shirts and pants when worn sitting down too. I did buy a trifold wllet which I really like too.
You can't place a $$$$$$ amount on safety. This apron cost more than others but will outlast me.

You will really appreciate the quality of hand made in USA too !!! Play safe !!!

You could be the center of attraction wearing that for a barbecue cooking over the coals . .

@ BD1 - your advice was golden. Sharron was a gem and super helpful. Learned about their company hertitage, passion for creating hand-crafted goods, and their lifetime warranty and repair options. Also, we talked about the artisan community resident in their area of Southern IN. The free shipping code she supplied was icing on the cake.

Decided to purchase the A06A-HCPL. The heavy-duty leather is the way to go for metal fabrication and hot work, as you stated/recomended. Sharon said the standard thickness apron is really for carpentry and would not hold up to ejected/hot metal from grinding. Also, the apron can also be razor-shaped/cut should one desire a reduced length apron.

    Thanks again for your consult.

Also, my 10-yr old leather trifold (best eva) from HI is on the brink of disaster. A fresh leather from MoonShiner may suit the bill.
Yea, I read that in the description which is why I decided on that model. I plan on using mine for blacksmith work too . I decided on the stiffer leather since I'm usually standing. The softer more pliable could be better if sitting. See what they say.

I bought the A06A-HCPL , and it is well worth the money. I found that once you have the straps adjusted you can remove it by just raising it up over head leaving it intact. Then just hang it on a hook.
The pockets are great and deep. As I mentioned before the leather is stiff but so far no issues and sparks and those wire wheel bristles bounce off. It was well worth the cost to me with safety being a concern. It is definitely high quality and great wearing for layout work with the pocket holding scribe, rule, and auto center punch.
YES MADE IN USA TOO !!! Oh, I gotta say the wallet is really nice too !!!

@ BD1 - About ready to punch that time card on that leather apron. Usually wear long sleeve shirts with a grey cowhide (brand unknown at this time) apron while fabricating. Cross-backed a la the Moonshiner. For stick and wire welding, my GoTo is a cloth with cowhide sleeves Green jacket. Love that jacket!

Plan'n to score the Moonshiner's Long edition (A02A-SCPL). Made in USA.

After 8 months of use, how are you liking the apron?

    That's a fantastic apron Bob!

I have some real nice made in USA canvas and Denim ones I got at an auction They came from a school and have the FFA logo on them. Those Moonshine ones aren't cheap, but the quality is obvious and I never mind paying for quality stuff. It'll prolly last a lifetime if you took reasonably good care of it

I imagine MJD would prolly go thru one a year

If I were to buy a leather apron, that would be the one right there!

I worry about grinding discs letting go, I've had it happen....I believe their leather is thick enough to keep one from one opening up your belly. The SIL was at work and had a disc break apart.... he had to go to ER to have the pieces removed and stitched up . The pieces went right though his T shirt and his heavy work shirt.
No, I didn't do anything with the leather yet. I was going to ask Sharron about it.
Yea, I feel the thickness would hold up . This is where the stiffness and thickness would excel , I think . . The pockets are big, you can actually leave a small tape measure in there and grab it , no problem. My only apron was HF one I got in a package deal when they were $10. That is so soft the wire wheel bristles would stick in it.

Insaneride, I always wore bibs when working before retiring and yes, shirts, pants , and bibs were pin cushions and well ventilated. The apron is kinda like bibs as pockets go , but it has real protection . I sold some of my metal artwork and used the money from that. I was gonna buy one anyway.

I did look at some Blacksmith suppliers for aprons too. They were similar in price but preferred the Moonshine and they have a great selection. Moonshine is a Ma and Pa made in USA business. I will always go for that type of places before any others.

A good investment for your clothes. I couldnt figure out why all my T shirts and hoodies had holes in them when Im careful about where sparks fly. Im thinking that metal flakes can wear holes thru clothes even if they are cold metal flakes. I saw a video where a blacksmith used his apron to pick up hot metal. Seems like a good idea to me.

    Leather apron " MOONSHINE "

Had my Moonshine leather apron for a few weeks. It is excellent guilty and well made. I bought the cross back design instead of hanging on neck , big difference. It's thickness is about 14 gauge using my thickness gauge. It is a stiffer material then welding leather sleeves. This might be better as it seems the sparks and wire wheel wires bounce off. My old soft leather apron the wires would stick into it. Pockets are awesome, nice size and hand fits with room to spare. Heavy adjustable straps and long waist ties. It was expensive but I know I'll never need another one.
I talked with Sharron , and she is awesome. Had all the answers plus informed me it's guarrented for life. If I burn a hole in it or whatever just return and they fix it free. Big plus to me is it's Made in USA.
I even bought a trifold wallet, it too is great. Softest leather wallet I ever had. This too is high quality and USA made. I don't know them at all just a happy customer. Tackit , our member mentioned them awhile ago, so Thank you ! Darn pics sideways !
