Finished up the roofing tin, less the gable end trim and the ridge cap a week ago. Did get the gable end trim holes drilled and completed all the wall outlet wiring. Was too windy to install the gable end trim so finished doing the garage door trim boards and reinstalled the door seals. Next two days are snow and wind, so some time off for me.

Yesterday ran wiring for the two garage door openers and wired in the indoor switches for the garage doors at the son's shop. Showed the son how to wire a single outlet box. He struggled a bit, but got the wires all done correctly. Also finished the wiring for the led south side ceiling lights and hooked to the CB in the panel.

Went to see a neighbor of his to check out the twin baby goats born 2 hours earlier. All seemed well with the little ones.

Yesterday got 5 more sheets of tin on before the winds came up too high. Got half the wiring runs drilled in the studs today and ran some wires for the ceiling lights. Mounted some of the outlet and switch boxes. Pics coming in a couple days.

I have both, and there really wasn't much difference in price. I use the convertible one a lot more... but he's the boss...

Plan B today. He still needs CBs, ceiling lights and he found a 12' step ladder he wants, so shopping today.

Weather has been either too windy, too cold or too much snow for the last few weeks to work on the shop. Garage doors are in, so weathered in now. Working on interior wiring tomorrow. Lots of holes to drill in the wall studs.

Golf clubs are a magnet for lighting and thunderstorms.

It is alway best to error on the side of safety.

In fourty years we only had one employee with 3 stitches and that was because he took off his gloves.

When I building metal buildings we put roof on first.
Next side where the wind blows.

That give some wind protection
A lot work we had [Tee hangars] internal walls to and once the outside done I could work indoors.

If you compare an old sheet of galvanized to a new one, there's a definite difference in shine. What you will be painting on is actually a layer of oxidation that isn't conducive to retaining paint. We had special vinyl wash primers for galvanized panels (like the cowl of a Ford Pinto which was somewhat ironic since it was everything else on the car that rusted...) that we used under the regular primers, but even they were somewhat hit and miss. I've seen galvanized grain bins painted near the Great Lakes where everything gets corroded, and the peeling paint really didn't look any better, or protect the building any better, than the failing galvanized. I know you'd like your new shed to look nice and new, but painting galvanized might not be the best move.

My Dad used to work there in the mid '60's . Gary Sheet and Tin works

Finished up the south side of the roof tin. Was only off 1/2" of square. The gable end trim comes out 4" so good to go. Got 1/3 of the north side roof tin on. Was 3 of us. Winds were good till noon.

My house and 4 outbuildings are all tin roofs. Most have been replaced 3 times in 15 years due to hail. Insurance covers all the replacements.

I put a metal roof on my shop over 10 years ago. we get hurricanes here and this is after Ivan in 2011. Roof still doing fine.

Just re-paint roof in 30 or 40 years will add 40 more years.

FYI Do cut holes near the eve , only at the rig/top of roof . Caulking will dam the roof and water comes inside.
