I'm going back and forth on the pads. My thinking is they give a bit of reference for where the corners are (in case it's dark or the user is...relaxed lol.)

They will come off easily.

Added some lugnuts so the base looks more finished. Dang if copper sulfate and battery acid make a great copper plating solution! Please with how the rail came out.

So, what price you think I can list it at?

I like everything polished.

I would run into that glass and knock it over - make sure you put it somewhere so I can't!

I found if you use it according to the directions it comes out kind of blotchy sometimes.

I just put it on generously with a sponge or a paper towel and let it dry.

I then wipe it down with oil and I’m done.

It comes out nice and dark and I haven’t seen any bad effects doing it that way.

Looks fantastic! One little bottle will last ages, and you'll find yourself hunting for more stuff to "blue". Taking the shine off the brass really makes a world of difference!

I've been shooting those repros for 35 years and the only time I've ever greased anything was the very first time I shot one. Just a sloppy mess that will tend to lock up a '58 Remington clone. If your ball shaves a ring when you press it in you will never see a chain fire. With black powder in those guns you cant get enough velocity to lead a barrel. I shoot with 5-10 other guys that all do the same so there must be something to that. Most of us do use the lubricated "wonder wads" under the ball... Those help reduce the chance of chain fires and lube the barrel after the first shot.

P.S., we might want to take this discussion down to the shooters thread.

Forget all the BS on the gun forums. Pack these baby's with plain ol' lithium axle grease, and no crossfire, and a good clean bore.

This is a nice factory bluing job. It's wear resistant. All about the process I guess.

Once the shot glasses arrive it should be pretty straightforward to compliment them.

I used to build the black powder revolvers from a kit. Was a lot of fun, and they shot pretty nice.

Anyways, I blued them with cold blue. Didn't actually give a "blue" finish...........it gave a nice blackish finish. Looked really good.

What I did notice, was how the tip of the barrel would shed its finish due to repeated inserting it in the holster. It's not a deep finish. That's why I'm thinking a clear coat might help on a piece of furniture.

Cold bluing works pretty good, but it wears off very easily. I'd try some of it, then put some clear coat over it. Just to see if the two chemicals interact in a good way. Then you can do the work on your table when you determine it works.
