Interesting to know! [emoji106]. I have never used a Bobcat.

I have a older SA200 I have used for years and love it, but I bought a farm and need to leave the SA 200 at the home place and get one to leave here. I was leaning towards the Miller Bobcat 225 or 250 as I need a machine that has 220 output or I would look at another SA 200 and rebuild it. Just used for basic ranch projects, building a barn and fence but will need to use it as a generator some until I get electrical installed. The new MPX has a lot of great features, but 1st gen technology scares me. Any thoughts ?

Thanks, I enjoy the pictures but still need advice, I think the 250GTX is the safe bet, the new MPX are cool just unproven in the field. I yet to talk to anyone using their in the wild. Looks like 260 is the new 250. The miller Bobcat 260 EFI has my attention as well

Hey to kinda keep this thread on track here’s an economy portable I paid $50 Cdn ($37 usd) for used. Came with 2x 30 foot 1/0 cables.

Princess Auto was good enough to dig up the original 50 year old ad and send me a copy.

Need a new engine driven welder

I had a couple of SA 200’s. They took up way too much room.

I sold one and kept the other which is out on “permanent loan” with a buddy who took it with him gold mining.

SA 200 welded beautifully of course, and sounded more pleasing. But, not versatile enough for what I do - which is random stuff that a Bobcat is better for.
Hard to beat the sound. Just TOO cool. [emoji41]

But you’re right. Too big and impractical for most jobs.

Aw Hell.......life marches on. I couldn't run as good a weld back then.......got better.......then bad eyesight set in. Life is full of surprises, but I really do miss the enthusiasm I had back in the day. Made life fun.

I went in a different direction. A good deal of my lifting is done with either a loader, or a crane.

I luv that pickup, and it'd kill me if I had to put something on it where I didn't have precise control over the process.

Gawd...........that was maybe almost 17yrs ago IIRC. Actually painted the thing when it was done

Re: Need a new engine driven welder

If you want it mostly for the generator look at a Miller with the Excel power option or see if Lincoln has something like it (that works on 220). If you're not needing the full generator output it won't rev as fast.
