If you need a good fit, I mean a really good fit.......................you can do a diaphragm. I'll have to go back over some project pics to find what I generally do. Try to get to it tonite.
The pics were in the current 3yr file. Musta brought them in from a few years back.
Attachment 1733362 What I needed was a very tight, precise fit between two pieces of telescoping tubing. The out-of-the-mill sizes were close, but not close enough...........................
I made a tight fitting diaphragm out of plate, and inserted it into the main body of the large tubing, so that a smaller piece would fit at a close tolerance. I think the pic is self explanatory.
I wanted a close fit because the thing had to bear a lot of weight without flopping from side to side. This was during the suspension rebuild on the Great Dane about a decade ago.

If you space the diaphragms properly(wide enough apart), you get a very precise fit.
