How do you get the picture to show under your post, so that people don't have to open the attachement? Thanks Snitz

Re: How to upload/post a picture

You can adjust the picture size through whatever system your computer has installed to manage photos.
My computer has Microsoft Photo Editor. With a picture on the screen, I go to the "Image" pulldown menu, and click on "resize" which lets you make it smaller. I don't have any magic numbers in my head for how much smaller to make it; I just keep playing around with it until it will upload successfully.

Which explains why I post so few pictures.

1917. "Census Bureau, Department of Commerce, tabulating machine." An early punch-card tabulator, a distant forebear of today's computers. Two photos of this monster yet to come. Harris & Ewing Collection glass negative. View full size.

Test of Zip file; it doesn't work, but the individual shots from within it do.

Does it run, what capacity is the tank, how much HP? Nice old iron!
BTW, I could decompress each foto.

Re: How to upload/post a picture

Bruce, the 'details' (or lack thereof) about the compressor are in the CL ad posted in the "What Free Stuff have you seen in your area" thread.
The individual shots were 'saved' from the CL ad, then copied to here; they were only compressed in the Zip file. [At least I think so; I'm still 'kinda' new to this computer stuff.]

In the "manage attachments" window, a zip file is shown at the bottom. This one was well within size limitations; what other 'qualifications' are there? Do firewalls/spyware programs interfere? I seem able to right click the 'address' of the zip file (shown at the bottom of my last post here) and open in in another tab; does this work for anyone else?
