Bookmarked! That would be good for someone like me with no lathe experience.

I love his videos. I'd pay money to do a hands on class with him no problem. I'm just wondering if this isn't simply a collection of the videos he's already produced, repackaged and put up for sale in a more public location.

If it's new material it's probably worth the money. If it's just a rerelease of his previous videos, you can watch them all for free on Youtube. I know he's had disks of his youtube stuff up for sale for those that wanted hardcopy of his work.

bert the welder I would recommend you watch this thing prior to buying a lathe, i wish i had. I should make a video called me and My Lathe Part 1,2,3,4 and so on, and should end with me marrying the damn lathe, because it is been alot of moaning, and screwing i should post some pictures, anyway this course is really something quite remarkable.

That's good to know. I've got a new ISP now and my wireless signal sucks for video downloads on this computer now. I'll have to keep keep this in mind for when I've got some free cash. I've liked most of his stuff I've seen so far. I'd probably just get a part of the series vs the whole set. I'll have to look closer at the example vids when I get a chance.

He seems like he was a very good shop teacher back in the day. His vids I've seen are always clear and concise, even if they are a bit simple on occasion. I try to keep in mind he's teaching to those who never had a chance to learn any of the basic things I learned years ago in shop not to mention what I've picked up here and there over the years.

Mr Pete is quite knowledgeable with all things machine shop related, but his videos are terrible.
When buying property- location, location, location is key. When making videos it is editing, editing, editing.
Cut out needless discussion, don't show how your saw cuts, how a lathe cuts down a 2 ft long piece of stock, etc. Edit it down to the minimum required to show a process- remove all fluff. It is much more difficult to make a short video than a long one.

The only machinist on the web who does good editing is This Old Tony. Additionally, he adds small humorous tidbits, that make his videos even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, because he spends so much time editing, his videos are few and far between.

If any of you guys want to start making videos to put on youtube- learn to edit before you turn on the camera.

Yep, he's an excellent shop guy to watch.

I like his videos and have learned a lot of machining information that I didn't know that I didn't know.

I particularly like listening to an older, extremely
knowledgeable gentleman talk about shop stuff.
Wish there was more of those guys around. Don’t
really care about his editing abilities.

You can find "Mr Pete 222" or "Tubalcain" on you tube. He likely has links to his other videos there.

My opinion of the youtube guys that take the time to help educate people in the trades is they are really paying it forward. I believe they are providing a valuable resource for education and improvement.

Obviously there is a spectacular pool of misinformation out there as well!

My list is limited and not by intention to reflect negative towards whomever is not on this list! YouTube good guys:
