Howdy all, ESAB I sent you a PM. Just picked up a 350MPI and 4HD. The hold up is it came with no guns. It does have a broken L-TEC Mig 41. It "appears" as though only the plastic casing/ trigger is broken. Any ideas on a repair/parts source? Could do with some advice on which foot control (14 pin), tig torch and stick stinger that would work with this inverter. As far as the hard wire gun, I'm leaning towards an air cooled
Q-300. I'll also need drive rolls and guide tube for the hard wire. I know that's a bunch but I appreciate any advice you'all might offer. Have a good one, John B.

Gun consumables. Most likely it will be our GunMaster 400. Not to sure, but that would be my guess. You can go to our website and there should be a breakdown of the parts that you would need. If you would like you can PM me your email and I can email the breakdown to you.

Here is the link for the Gun. After you are on the site, click under the picture on the right, on Product data sheet, and that should pop up a PDF with the details on the Gun.

You should be able to go to any LWS that is a dealer and they can order the parts. Dont know where you are at so hard to say any names.

For the tig foot control we have two different one. Standard duty is Part# 0558004234, and the Heavy duty is 33841. Again, go to your LWS and they can order this for you.

Here are you tig torch options:

They stinger will be a basic 50MM dinse connector with around a 300amp electrode holder. If you want to order from us the part number is 21226. It is a 300amp 15' holder assembly.

The Gunmasters take Tregaskiss-style consumables. Don't mix tips with Tweco as the thread pitch is different. You can use the Euro connector gun of your choice on the 4HD feeder.

We don't buy special TIG torch setups, and instead just clip a scratch-start rig to the stinger. You can then reach as far as you want. We buy Radnor TIG torches which last fine. Unless it's a mandatory proprietary ESAB part we avoid getting it from them because their stuff is expensive.

Download all your manuals/parts books from the ESAB site then TELEPHONE order from Scott Gross. They beat my LWS and we are just down the road from ESAB in Florence. It all gets drop-shipped anyway!

Now there's some good news farmall. Big relief to know the parts are still there. I'll shop for a repair. I was told a local LWS repairs them. I mentioned to David the closest LWS is an hour away in Roanoke, Va. Anything I can get to appear at the shop door in a brown truck is better. I'm getting a mig gun headed this way tomorrow. I'm figuring SG for the drive rolls. I was looking at weldcraft torches last night. I'll check out the Radnor tonight. This keeps up I could be burning steel next week. Anyboby interested in a MM251?

Look at the manual first. There isn't much to them, and you can swap parts faster yourself than farming it out.

Thought I'd drop in for an update. Odered A Q-400, drive rolls and tube at tthe same time couple of weeks ago. Got a HOBART male plugin to the power source that'll fit the standard 3 prong dryer hook up. Gas bottle/regulator seems serviceable . 400 should be here this week. Only thing it's short then is maybe a stinger and the tig set up. That might have to come next payday.
I'd just about bet the FXR on FARMALL being right. You look at someting a couple of times and figure it out. I might take it by the repair site and ask for some conversation and a parts purchase. See if we can work something out. Keep you posted though, Yall been good about this, Thanks, John B.

Just last weekend I went to the ESAB website and used the "Contact Us" page to ask a question. Still haven't seen an email from them.
Am passively interested in the ESAB Caddy MIG 200i. They advertise that it is good for aluminum welding so I want to know if they have a spool gun or a push-pull gun for it. Sure hope they don't think that a teflon liner is an attractive solution to me.
I like the weight of this unit. Too bad it isn't dual input voltage like the Miller 211 MIG.

Depending on the spool-gun, it's fair to good. The ST-23 gun is the more expensive, and better built spool-gun. Does the machine have a black face or tan front? Older is the Tan color front. Much older unit, but still a good unit. Very few changes over the years.

I have not seen the spool-gun yet. He's having trouble finding it (says it's in storage) but I'm guessing it's a MT-250 SG. I don't really need the spool-gun. What would the spool-gun be worth if I sold it? $450-475? Black front on the welder.

if it is the st-23 and the machine is as you say then, yes it is a fair deal. Not great, but you will not be taken either. it is fair for the both of you. I love the 250 and an st 23.

Make certain the tank is privately owned and not rented or leased. What type of shielding gas does the tank contain?

On mild steel the Migmaster 250 is one of my favorite short arc units (clean smooth arc with very light spatter) with C-25 shielding gas.

He also has a second regulator for the argon tank, all the paperwork that came with the machine, extra tips, etc. The machine is dusty from sitting but looks to have had VERY little use in his home shop. I think I'm going to try $1650 for the package and see what happens.

With two tanks, and that spool-gun, it's a good deal at $1850. (IMO) You will not get close to that deal with a used Miller or Lincoln. Although the Esab really is the best machine in that class. (Again IMO)

If you decide to run .030 wire, run the correct outlet guide tube.(#21164) It cleans the arc up just a bit over the stock unit. Get good wire like Hobart HB-28/Esab 86 and then you will start out knowing how good the Migmaster is. C-25 for short-arc welding.

If you haven't powered the unit up yet, I'll warn you ahead of time that cooling fan produces quite a bit noise.

Without a spool hub spacer to center the roll of wire up better with the drive rolls, an 8" diameter spool of wire can have some feeding issues. I generally run 12" diameter spools of wire on mine, and haven't had any feeding issues. I just finished up a roll of .030 Hobart HB-28 and it was running great on the unit on 1/8" - 1/4". Now I am know working on burning up an old roll of .035 Prostar, on 1/8" - 1/4", that performs very well on this unit.


If the unit doesn't already have it, you may want to purchase the add-on spot/stitch/ burnback module. My unit had an issue with the wire sticking in the weld puddle at the end of quick tacks where I didn't pull the gun back. I added the above mentioned module. I gave the burnback timer just a fraction of a second of arc on time, and I no longer have an issue with the wire sticking in the weld puddle.
