My friend uses 75-25 on cylinder heads and says he gets a puddle right away. His mix is 75% helium. Could probably get the job done using that mix and some preheat to get it started using 200 amps. Obviously already done And I’m sure will hold up since it’s a strong looking design

This... Would have been nice to know a several years ago as I showed up to weld a seat on a service car. And discovered it was a hodge-podge of braze /weld . With a miller 150s.

Don’t think I’ll be having any trouble with them for a while lol. Going to put another box on the other side and build a slide out container for my ln25 to sit beside the bottles under the reels.

Will the tire sling mud into the gap there or is there a mudflap I can't see?

The gap is going to get sorted. I’m planning to cut out the floor plate to the left about 3” and dripping a shallow box in that spot just for my gloves. Once it’s skirted it will also have mid flaps. By then there will be no gap

It does make a good spot to hang a tape though

Gee! From my perspective it was a reasonable question. From the pictures I knew it was a motorcycle gas tank. While I did not know what manufacturer, the law of averages said overwhelming probability; Harley.
Was it unreasonable to ask which variety?

Don’t you wish you could buy miss marked tape measures you count leave laying around for people to steal

that's one of the best ideas I've heard of.

I have one of those "centerfinding" tapes that drives people nuts. Engineers tape marked in tenths drives them nuts too.

tenths on long tapes have gotten me into trouble before; more than once I'm ashamed to admit.

I have a manual caliper that is measured in 1/16's, 1/32's and 1/64's on the Vernier... it can get you into trouble ordering things, but I actually use it a lot when I'm building. I use the dial type when I need better accuracy.

I'm absolutely an azz.

Re: Show us what you welded today
Had to change the ball and the nut refused to come off. So fabricated a custom wrench using crossfire cnc. I had 1/8 plate so built two and welded together. Worked like a charm to hammer the nut loose.

It certainly doesn't take 300 amps to weld 1/4" alloy fillets... although I partially agree, 200 amps even from a Dynasty is marginal and wants a good pre-heat on that huge section.
250 amps would comfortably blitz it though.
You seem to always want more amps than necessary for TIG... noticed this as a running theme for you... I wonder if it's the machines you're used to running, run cold for the amps? Or are you running really high frequency? High frequency loses a lot of heat for the amps.
