Re: Show us what you welded today!

Here is what I welded today (and yesterday). Got a call from a guy who said that boom on his backhoe was cracked.......actually it was broke all the way through on three sides. I used 068 NR211. The job took me 6 hours and I charged $75 each for the fish plates.

Ground em out, welded em up and plated them. The welding on the fish plates is not completed in these pics.Name: 1130131305.jpg

I welded up the ornamental outdoor christmas deer things my wife bought a few years ago. You know, the ones made with wire, wrapped in plastic crap and have lights on them. One of the ones my wife got has a moving head which the single little tack weld broke on the first year. Quick 1" weld and some paint burnt on and its all ready to wiggle its head all winter.

I think I did better the first time I tried it. But these are VERY hard to do. I think it's impossible to do a butt joint, you have to lap the edge where it slopes down. At least I do.
One of them I did a up/down weave and the other I did a circle motion.

These welds are on the Pfadt Racing corvette headers (google it) in case you're wondering.

    Mike,

How do you get the dimes sooooooooo perfect? Are you using pulse? Are those autogenous only?

Your welds are so pretty that I use them as the background on my office desktop computer. I pretty much stare at your welds daily.

Just a bit of welding, I made up two garbage bag holders......

Simple thin walled tubing with some gussets on the top corners. They fold flat when not in use.
I help out with an NPO here in Japan building playgrounds for communities in the Fukushima area that was devastated by the earthquake in 2011.
These are just used on the jobsite for keeping things neat and tidy.

Wow, lots of cool stuff here! Fantastic SS TIG welds towards the beginning! I'm just a hobby welder, got back into welding just this past year with the purchase of a MillerMatic 211 MIG machine. I've completed about 6-8 projects, mostly stuff I have wanted to do for some time and some repair jobs on broken tools and such. My latest project was a cargo carrier for my son. He is a big college football fan and uses it to tailgate to the local games.
