My thinking was to give them a little space from the vise in case I was welding or grinding. That and it's a first effort. Already I think would change to (2) tubes on each side, angled at 45 degrees, one above the other, and a little higher up.

But when the infamous line from the movie "Babe" - "That'll do pig, that'll do" runs through my head - then I leave it alone until I can reflect on it a bit and decide if a change is really needed.

Hmmmm..... maybe those hooks need to be on long rubber bands.... you know, like a pendulum... That way when you grab the hammer it's already swinging...

I think if I were to make hammer hangers again that the handles slide INTO, I would form rings out of round stock so the wooden handles don’t get damaged.

well, I should complain about the 1/2-9/16 open end combo wrench and the wire ties not all facing the same way but since you got the hammers straightened out I'll cut you some slack

nice looking tool arrangement... mine should be so neat !! Id love to have a shop full of that slat board wall covering, but it's too late for me

Re: Show us what you welded today

Interesting shop pics, especially the lighting, which I'm sort of interested in right now.

I've lived with, and mostly been ok with, 4 fixtures containing 8, T-8 tubes in all......but I'm needing more light these days.

I've looked at the LED retrofits,, but I don't like the light they put out. On top of being annoying to look at, they seem like they don't put out enough light compared to the T-8's. I'm running tubes that put out 3000 lumens https://www.westinghouselighting.com...b-3733400.aspx The box says 3000, the website specs say 3100 (shrug).

I don't see any alternative to just adding a few more fixtures to get more light. I'm also wondering if the standard T-8's will be around much longer, what with all this environmental stuff goin' on.

I like/need a lot of light... switched my old t12 8 footers for t-8 4'ers at 5000k Leds and wow did it make a difference
I went with the ballasted ones for ease of install but lately in the house I've swapped for the 120 volt direct wires I have a
4 bulb 4' flourescent fixture in the kitchen that both ballast died almost the same day... ballasts replacements with tax
were over 50 bucks at H.D.... 4 120 volt LED tubes were 39.90 + tax... and again they are BRIGHT and hopefully
    they will outlast me.

The shop bulbs certainly aren't 'daylight" type bulbs but man they are bright. I still need drop light when under the truck
but I found a couple of battery operated LED work lights that do a great job in the dark... down side is if they are
on 'high' the battery life is a only a couple of hours. Upside is they came in a two pack so I can use one while
one is charging. Old eyes need more light... you mentioned not liking to look at them... I never look up in the shop unless
it's to retrieve something hanging from my ceiling

Might be because you're using 5000K 'Daylight' bulbs. Mine are 4100K 'Cool White' bulbs. I might need to switch to a daylight bulb.

We switched our regular incandescent light bulbs to the new LED retrofit bulbs in the house. They are brighter, but don't seem to last any longer than the old style bulbs, even the higher priced GE ones don't seem to hold up very long.

I noticed that as well, lifespan vs cost sucks. The harbor freight 4' LED single tube fixtures provide real decent light output compared to the cost.

Size: 124.0 KBaluminum frame for my dinner table. 10 cfh was used with 5 cup and 1/8 tungsten that was already seasoned up. 1/8” 215 amps to start the uphill inside corner. Then went to 182. 155 for the flats and probably around 90 for the outside corner. Those had pretty much a sharp point. Don’t know the exact amps on the outside corner.

Re: Show us what you welded today

Made a platform to hold a sprayer on the back of my mower. I actually have 2 different sprayers - one bigger broadcast sprayer, and one smaller spot sprayer for Roundup, so I made it to fit both. 2 ratchet straps to hold them in place. After welding it all up , the 2 lower rail mounts had pulled outward a good 3/8" so it wasn't going to fit until I took a pipe clamp to it to pull it back inline (working up to it over a few passes). I wasn't surprised it warped that way, just at how much it did. This is leftover 304 SS bits from my railings project from the last 2 years, so the material was free. I seem to be "less horrible" at TIG welding SS now but still tend to overheat joints.

1/8" 1x2 tubing and 1/8" 1.5" angle. The platform is 2 pieces of 14ga that I had a shop bend a 1.5" leg (pointing down - you can't see it). All leftovers.

Yes, I will need to add front weights before I use it or i will flip it or pop wheelies all the time on my steep property. But that won't be until spring now.

And some pictures of it complete and mounted...

    Looks great!!!!

Those green straps really make it look like it belongs there Have you got a piece of rubber(mudflap) under it to prevent movement/abrasion?

Thanks! I could throw some rubber or cloth under there I guess. It doesn't seem to want to move at all with the straps snugged up, but I haven't tried anything filled up yet. I expect i will use this 2-3x per year with the big one and a few times with the small one. A couple hours each time. I doubt the use will be heavy enough to wear anything out. The big one will be over 250lbs when full, so front counterweights will be important...

Re: Show us what you welded today

So I had to go and help out a friend that was scheduled to do a job but hurt his hand, I had to weld a 110' flagpole together for a new VW dealership. It came in three sections that sleeve together so it was just a couple of welds, 12" and 14" that hold it together.

Being as it's not a pipeline, I guess the inspectors don't get funky about undercut? Might just be the camera angle, or the way it was wire brushed after welding.
