    Fork It

I have been asked several times if I could do brush clean up work with my Kubota B 7800 and couldn't because I lacked a set of brush forks
if you have ever tried to do this with a standard bucket it's a PITA ... like trying to scoop up a plié of bailing wire what little you get in the bucket wants to fall back out because it's tangled up
and you don't want a load of dirt mixed in

So this is an old design my father made quite a few sets of these in different sizes and both loader mount and 3 point hook up
just going to alter it for quick attach / detach ... and maybe a future thumb load holding thing

The material is 2 x 2 x .250 tubing that is what I have on hand and was scrap from another project that we are done with

making the points is easy used a wood stake for the template make the cut lines and break out the gas axe
plasma cutter would have been easier for this

And the Trail Blazer went to the shop to be repaired so were using the old but reliable Millermatic 35

I like that design, I think I'll borrow it if you don't mind :-). Two questions, what anchors the top and what prevents the bottom from being push back?.....Mike

    Re: Fork It

I got the Trail Blazer back and it's not working right so it's going back Monday

I wanted to put most of the stress on the bottom of the bucket and not have it just swinging around only hanging on by the top quick mounts and needed it to not interfere with normal loader operation
so I came up with using 2 pieces of 4 x 4 x 1/2" plate cut in a L shape and welded inside to the sides of the bucket

This holds it in place and doesn't get in the way while keeping the stress pushing down onto the bottom of the bucket and against the lock plates

    Re: Fork It

That should work great! I did some brush work with a very similar setup once and it worked well. That machine also had a thumb thing on top like you're planning. With the thumb you can move some serious brush piles!

How do you like your Rage saw? I think I'm about to get one.

    Re: Fork It

Now the top quick mounts were a pita because I had to buy an odd size piece of angle iron and I am trying to keep this light as possible
but I could only find a piece of it a little thick...overkill 4" x 7" x 1/2" I would have liked to have found it in 3/8" thick

Size: 51.2 KB

It locks over the 3 x 3 x 3/8 angle that is welded to the top of my bucket for the hooks

but you see how it basically works and mounts so I can detach it quickly and the only stress on the top hook up is the weight of the whole assembly
the pushing and raising stresses are all kept to the bottom of the bucket and the two locking plates

I will post the rest later

    Re: Fork It

I have had my rage for three years now and still love it cuts that tubing nice quick and burr free
but cutting 250 wall wears on the blade so i'm going to have to sharpen it soon..i should have bought another of the blue blades so one on the saw and one to sharpen
it takes some time to sharpen them with the HF machine I have

if you look at that one photo I posted were my ground clamp is that was cut with the rage 3
nice and smooth ..I didn't even grind it

Very nice build! I built something close to that years ago for my tractor, but not near as heavy duty as yours. But eventually I ran into a good deal on a grapple for a skid-steer, cut all the mounting brackets off and built ones to fit my tractor. A grapple makes life so much easier!

420 is the loader, the tractor is a 4200. Yes it is an automatic.

    Re: Fork It

Did you run third function Hydraulics on your loader? I've got a JD 790, I'd like to be able to run the implements off my Kubota and Skid Steer, on the JD also. Did you run it off the rear AUX, and just add a control?

    Re: Fork It

The TB went to running from extreme high rev to below normal idle no happy medium ..it didn't matter if switch was in auto idle or run so I took it back to airgas

I got it back Friday and guess what it went back to doing it again but I could put the switch in run and it would run at speed so I could get this project done they had it for 3 weeks

So back to airgas it went today

Miller rep said it's kohlers problem they say it's millers problem all I know is it's only 4 months out of warranty and I paid 400.00 for them to fix it and it's not fixed

the mechanic said it was the coil to that I say BS he said it worked fine when he tested it now he says that miller sent service bulletins out about bad connectors on the ECM harness

My tb had issues with the plunger getting corroded and sticking making it idle and run crappy. I've cleaned and oiled it a few times. Now I have a bad board. The amperage drops down if you turn it up past 150 amps. Change potentiometer with negative results. Gonna fix it soon.

I really like your design! If I would have had enough box tube I would have used it too. I just dug around through my scrap pile and came up with my design. It worked, but I bent the round stock often. Couple smacks with the ol double jack, and back to work. If you ever run into a good deal on a grapple grab it, they work great!
