Definitely overloaded. Either shouldn't be hauling it or should have put it over the axles.

I hate it when idiots think semi trailers should be loaded "over the axles" They are designed to divide the load between the tractor and trailer axles. Completely different than your single axle TSC golf cart/lawn mower trailer that makes you a trailer expert. Putting that coil "over the axles" would have put him overweight and shut down by DOT. Most likely failed due to rust and failed maintenance and inspection.

So, I'm an idiot? What I was saying is that he shouldn't be hauling it but if he had to he should have put that over the axles. He would have been way better off. I do know the proper way to load a semi trailer.
Obviously this trailer has been abused/neglected and shouldn't have been on the road in the first place...

The over weight fine for putting that coil over the axles would be in the $20,000.00 range, (most states are $1.00/pound) plus another $1-3,000.00 for a wrecker or crane to come and make it right before you could leave the scale. It is loaded correctly as is, it's the trailer that failed.

I was expecting all the bikes to fall like dominos. Talk about having a bad day. Trailer fell off, he fell chasing it while tractor ran into it.

Saw this at a stop light last night....

They towed it, I don't know how far, but they towed it just like that to the scrap yard. I saw it coming from down the street so I know it was on public road way just like that.
Apparently you can do what ever the f you want in NM.

That is what it is. I'm not sure how they ever pulled it. Looked like they took the hitch off a garden tractor and mounted it on a S-10 frame.

This was parked at a Mc D's that I stopped at today. At first it looked like just a wheel bearing went out and started a fire til I started to look at all the stuff that was wrong long before the fire.

Been missing the hoses for the air brakes for a long time.



Chains been dragged and have no hooks. Also check out the retainer on the dropleg.



Busted ramp lift cylinder mount.



This could be why the bearings went out. And the rust is a tell for loose lugs, yes I check and they are loose.

The front axle had a bearing go out and started on fire burning off the tires and burning the truck on thr bed.

If you look close at the first pic you can see another axle in front of the obvious one. They pulled the tires off the side the pic is taken from because this happened on the highway. The owner drug it to this Mc D's and dropped it and abandoned it according to the manager at the store. It's been sitting for 2 weeks. They have been trying to get it hauled off but can't find anyone to take it because noone can contact the owner. At least that's the manager's story.
