    Look what followed me home!

Look what followed me home yesterday!

Got it runnin and welding also , wasn't expecting it to go that fast. Btw its a 1957 which im told is the transition from short to long hood.
Im gonna go through all of it as the wiring is pretty shot , all the insulation is cracked and falling off of most of the wires and the rad is shot so we couldn't run it very long. Also im not familiar with the r57 ideler so I need to do some reading and see if I can get it operational.

Got one up yhe road for sale. The owner wants 2800 for it, original paint. If you paid under a grand it's a steal.

I see the magneto ignition and it is a flat head 4, is it a Continental? Been a while since I saw a manual hand crank. I hope the electric starter works.

Re: Look what followed me home!

Disconnect the charging generator and use a 12V battery (and 12V solenoid) to kick it over. That starter won't mind the extra voltage (unless it's already shot).

I converted a Farmall 100 tractor (C-123 engine) from 6V to 12V decades ago retaining the 6V Delco starter and it worked for over 25 years until I sold it and as far as I know it's still cranking for the current owner.

No problem. Just DO NOT apply any voltage to the coil yet in an effort to test it although you can check for continuity.

that's not a cow it's a steer, which would explain why he's cold and shaking. Wouldn't you.

Re: Look what followed me home!

Well I sold the chopped black face a lot sooner than I was planning so now I got to hump it on this 57 to get it runnin good, pulled the xciter to rewire and heatshrink the big wires since the insulation was all cracked up.

Im building a whole new chassis and chopping it as well , heres the new faceplate.

That's it for now , ill start frame etc. in the morning and have some more pics tomorrow.

I want to see this one run. I think it a 1450 rpm machine like a short hood but is a five speed. Does anyone know?
