    Re: Welding table picture thread

my first welding table was wood topped. used that for years and years. splatter didn't stick. eventually threw a piece of aluminum on there. felt like a baller

second table was alittle better, especially after getting the top resurfaced. This worked very well for a few years and it def made me $ & improved the quality of my work. Still wasn't super fast to setup jobs one to the next. splatter didnt stick.

my current table. Can't imagine every owning anything else for the duration of my career. I barely use my tape measure anymore. sh$t fits and it is square. splatter does not stick.

3' x 7' picked up off Craiglist this winter. Top is 2-1/4" thick. I have since added crank down wheels to move it around.

Hey softail how well does that table scoot around? I'm getting ready to start building my table and have a top about that size and wondering how well it'll move around the shop.

Its not to bad after you get it rolling, at first I had 2" casters on it and couldn't hardly move it. Those are 5" came from northern tool. I still need to get 2 that don't swivel and that will help alot.

I think 5/8" is the standard but I'm not sure.

The Acorn/Weldsale + all the generic platens will vary from 1.5, 1.75 or 2" square holes. Demmeler and Siegmund fixture tables are 28mm holes. I dont know about the Stronghand Buildpro tables.

    Re: Welding table picture thread

Lots of good ideas there Duker. I've seen the extension at the far end a few times on tables guys have built, and I've also seen the step down for the chopsaw. Both really nice ideas for a table. My big table had outlets on it at one point. They are also quite useful.

I haven't seen the air tool hookup before though. I like that and the short hoses for bench work. I've used plenty of splitters, but this is the 1st one I've seen built into the table.

Love what you did with your table. Think I'll be borrowing some of your ideas to add to mine.

Here's my table. Nothing like any of these, but it's a work in progress, and since it was the first thing I've ever welded/built (being self taught) I think it came out ok.

It was built around the tool box. While I like the vise hard mounted, I'm truly considering moving it to a receiver hitch type mount.

I built it simple so that I could add on to it later. Next up will be an adjustable extension for longer material and a chop saw mount like the one on Duker's tables.

    Cheers,
    Josh
