    Kira Drill Press

I found this ad in my area for a Kira 1/4HP drill press:

I have a crappy Canadian Tire drill press now that is very light and small. Anyone have any knowledge of Kira? All I could find is that it was a Japanese company that came to North America in the 50s and they made Milling machines & drill presses.

Do you think I could make this into a stand up drill press? She told me the handle is about 2.5' from the ground now But I would like something more like 4.5', can I just add to or change the pipe?

I have to say that a 1/4hp motor sure doesn't sound like much to me. Maybe a handy little drill for some very light bench top work, but not something I would want to try and make something out of.
