Oh man, I hope you're getting good money for these items because they are really hard to find in the condition you keep things...

I probably could have got more. I try to price everything fairly and realistically. I always state in the ad that the price is FIRM and stick by it.

Sold the second day of listing. Went to a real great young guy that I'd supplied mower blades to in the past for his knife making biz

That was my thought also. Very impractical to use but they would look cool hanging on a wall.

Maybe use it on the Friendly Giant for a vasectomy.

I met a cool guy and his wife yesterday. He is a welding instructor for a neighboring school district and wants to bring his "boys" around for a shop tour.

He texted me this morning and asked me if I was interested in this well used Johnson gas forge. Apparently they have a Johnson gas foundry also.

They have retired it and replaced it with a Mighty Forge (made locally).

I know a lot of institutions use them. Anyone here have any experience or insight??

Literally!!! It gets better. It’s been sitting outside only lately because they are not allowed to do a few repairs to it. NON UNION.

He says he will bring it by for me one day next week.

The shop owner that bought my welding bottle “cage” a few weeks ago texted me today asking if I knew of any welder / fabricators looking for work.

I forwarded him my new buddy’s contact as he may be able to hook him up with some ex students.

Another shop owner once asked me if I knew who to get to set up his 65 ton Chicago press brake.

I forwarded him the name of a fellow who bought a big vise from me.

Turns out they worked together many years ago. LOL. Small world. I'm blessed knowing so many cool talented guys!

Always wanted to tinker with one of those Johnson forges. They are small, but efficient, from what I've gathered.

The body and insulation isn't anything to write home about. The big thing to remember is that they are rigged for Natural Gas and not propane. You might have to play around with the burner assembly if you switch it to propane. Also might have to open it up front and back a bit more so you can exhaust the chamber. Propane needs a bit more escape potential so you don't get the back pressure that'll snuff out the burner.

If nothing else, it'd seem pretty easy to remove all the insulation, which is probably cracked anyhow, and replace it with some good kaowool. No doubt in my mind that that'd be a step up from what it came with originally.

Their website sucks, and I don't have any idea who they are other than what they are saying, but credit where credit's due. Those grinders have some seriously sexy lines and I can see me borrowing a few ideas when I build my next grinder.

Les, I think that's a one-off design they're doing a 'give away' with. Kind of dressed up steampunk style.

Their simpler version is very "simple" and I really have to give them credit for how they hinged the tension arm.

This little cutie is, I think, for a 2x48 grinder. I like how they worked to keep it as compact as possible, something that's proven very handy with my recent Jet acquisition.

The giveaway steampunk version makes sense. I agree with whtbaron that it looks a little too busy and complex.

Kinda like the things I come up with. At the time I think I'm Leo Da Vinci, but a week later I'm like "WTF was I thinking. ".

I'd love to have the vision to make something with all sorts of flash like that grinder. My mind just doesn't work that way. I see folks doing it all the time and it looks so easy, but then I go to make something.... and it's as boring and bland as you can imagine, just to get it done and out of the way!

Just wanted to show that as I may dispose of some extra tools, I still like acquiring them also.

Today I bought a pair of used Proto ball peen hammers. A 12 ounce and a 16 ounce.

They are highly sought after by experienced users for their 8 sided handles which provide a surprisingly comfortable and ergonomic grip.

They are readily distinguished by their green and white handles.(The original colors and configuration of Plomb Tools, the predecessor of Proto.)

Never seen handles like that outside of the Beaver Tooth Handle Company. Always wanted to try one, but have been leery since I tend to like a handle that's thick like a sledge hammer has.

That style of handle never appealed to me. They just didn’t look “right”. Having used one, I now admit they are kind of nice.

I don’t think they can truly be called “octagon” though as the sides are not equidistant. *
