I tried Southpaws demo unit last night. Seems like it made a better weldor out of me. I only had dirty aluminum 3/8" and some thin stuf from a traffic sign with paint on it. It welded both thin and thick easily and we never prepped it. Southpaw tried some titanium I had . He said," it welds good once you get the heat into it.

For $650, it seems like a good deal.

We talked about a Nevada welding clinic. Not alot of WW members in this area tho.

Sorry about that, but did take it over to Insaneride's place yesterday. I tried Titanium welding for very first time. He had some bolts and misc pieces. It seems to really flow smooth (very fluid puddle) when it gets to the right temp.
It was cold and raining but we are going to try some more stuff another time. He also has a tank of helium so some DC aluminum is in the cards as well.

    UPDATE :

I got a PM from George's fiance Rebecca. She explained that she has a unit since November of last year and they don't have payapl invoice or anything

His warranty is valid and he can still send unit in for repair.

Points adjustment. I have the cover off this 2nd gen machine. Here is a picture of the points. They appear to be tungsten. The suggested points gap is .021-.023" located on the front right of the main (biggest) board as viewed from front of machine.

I don't have my feeler gauge here in Reno. But I will measure it at some point.

It looks like more than 0.024" from here Southpaw. What diameter of tungsten? If its 1/8" tungsten then the gap looks closer to 0.060" IMO.

They are 3/32 or close to it. It does look like about .030. The spec is what the tech here has found works best.

The price tag is tempting but Im looking at a RED face tomorow . I still have to ask, does it come with foot pedal, TIG torch and electrode stinger for $650?

A question about the spark points Southpaw or anyone; Ive noticed on schematics and pics that theres usually three tungsten electrodes for two gaps. In Southpaw's pic it looked like two electrodes for one gap. Whats the purpose of two gaps ?

Re: AHP Owners/Users Thread. No Trolling unless you have used/own one!

The previous price included the torch, pedal, stinger and torch as well as a regulator and an adapter to allow you to run it from 110 or 220v. The description online looks like its still that way. The picture shows everything that is included.

I see it's $620 now and another $30 shipping. Damn. I paid $750 and I'm still happy with the purchase.
