    Scoring your first big gig?

Here I am in Rural Kansas and everybody THINKS they can weld. Truth is a select few actually can. Problem is that since everybody believes they can they think they should do all their own welding. It breaks and they do it again and they think this is normal that welds just break lol. I was wondering how to get my first big gig to beat the "competition"

Do good work and charge a fair price. Let your reputation build and speak for itself.

I can assure you that this is not a problem limited to rural Kansas. "That Guy There" gave you some good advice, and your tag line "Quality is our policy", don't pay lip service to it, make sure your work shows it and you won't have to beat the competition. They will beat them selves. Also don't bad mouth the competition just tell the customers all that you have to offer. Good luck.

Also, be up front with people. Nothing pisses somebody off more than to get the runaround because you said you could do something you really cannot do. If you don't know or don't feel comfortable, say so. People will respect that.
