Help electrode snapped off in s45

I was trying to replace the consumables one Harbor freight 62204 plasma cutter and I broke the electrode off in the torch. Most of the electrode is out but it looks like a bit of it is stuck in the threads and a new wont thread in all the all. So how to i go about repairing this? Do I just run a tap threw it? If so does anyone know the size? Is there anything I should be careful of?

Re: Help electrode snapped off in s45

Crap wrote a long reply and something happened. Shortened version is the PC isn't cutting now. Can't cut 1/8" when it used to cut 1/4" fine. Replaced everything but the swirl ring with consumables for an s45, but my torch is labeled ipt-40. Could the original swirl ring be causing the problem. Check air pressure, added a dryer. Everything looks like it should work fine, lights work. Any ideas? Thanks again for the help.

No the torch is screwed up now. Take it back and see if they will give you a new one. If not you will have to order a new torch form Harbor Freight it will take 6 to 8 weeks for a new one.

    And its not a S45.

Aren't you the one that on this same forum posted that you have to change the retaining cup when you use s45 consumables. I attached the link and it's post 18 where it is mentioned.

I did get a new complete plasma cutter, and tried the s45 consumables in it with the original swirl ring and it has been cutting the same was the stock parts. The electrode is different shaped and shorter. Could you please clarify what you meant in the forum I linked too. Because that was my main reason for buying the consumables I did.

Yes I posted it. Did you get the change over kit from me? If not then How do you know it will work as I said in my post? And I still cant see how you broke the electrode off.

The pt40 torch is a blow back / back striking torch. The S45 is a blow back/forward striking system. If you want the original consumables for the PT40 you have to order them from Harbor Freight as they don't carry them in stock or in the stores.

The original Trafimet S45 consumables will work as I stated in my post "but" if you are buying aftermarket consumables they may or may not work.

Also I have been working on the PT40 torch and trying to make it more efficient then it is now.
