    Scrap metal art or projects

I rescued this cart earlier this year. Heavy duty casters and welded 10 gauge steel construction with formed edges.

I gave it to my neighbor as I knew his farm shop could use it WAY more than mine. I told him the cart was free but delivery was “extra” so he sent a tractor over.

Sorry. Continue on with the “ART” portion of scrap metals....

You are very fortunate. All scrap yards in my area ACCEPT scrap only. No picking or sales due to liability.

It is a small town dump with a separate scrap metal pile.
The stuff that gets thrown in there is surprising, I have pulled out 3 working vices the last one was a 5 in record.
Also a old electric hospital bed that I turned into a bike lift. It would have been faster to just use the motors and build a new one though.

I remember going to the landfill with my dad ages ago.
If I recall correctly I got my first two-wheel bicycle from a trip to the landfill.

I saw this tool at a friend's shop and decided to get one.
It is a 12x6 magnetic chuck or magnetic grinding holder.
It works great for holding flat material. You use an allen wrench to turn the magnet on or off so that helps with clean up.

Shootr, Congratulations on the $125 sale !

Great feeling selling a custom time consuming piece. It makes it worth the effort we put forth to creating a salable item.
All it takes is the right person to want it regardless of price. I had that a couple of times while setting up. Lady said, I'll take this one, and I didn't have a price on it.
She asked, how much do I owe you.
    That's what it's about.

Stopped by my buddies scrap yard on the way home... was looking around and saw a bunch of new pipe-JIC fittings just laying there that looked like they needed a new home so they got one
The only question is do I keep them around until I need them for a piping project.... or turn them into something else

    LOL!!! I'll bet you would

I had a few 'other things' in the truck too but it was late and dark when I got home... and I been going since 4:30 this morning so I just parked the truck and will deal with things in the morning probably be raining then too... but oh well... usually I'd have Sid help me out on something like this... but.... haven't seen him in a week!!!!

It is hard not to just start throwing things in the truck whenever I stop at his yard there's just so much great stuff there that people just get rid of

It looks like there are mostly female NPT to male JIC in the pic. With some male NPT to male JIC thrown in. Using the other pieces and parts as size reference, they might be 1/2" or 3/8" but that is just a swag. I use mostly 1/4" fittings at work.

I am drawing a blank on ideas for trying to find a use for them besides their intended purpose. If you think of something, make sure post a pic since I have a decent amount of them myself.

Yeah, there are male and female ends on the pipe to jic but the ratio is not gender neutral the female's have the majority there are also a sprinkling of other fittings in there... filled the tin up halfways

So you are saying the few males have their pick from the many females? Must be nice.

They are def suited for robot bodies but I hope someone comes up with some other unique application.

I have a small inventory of bigger stuff on hand for repairs but I keep a little bin of odd ball stuff (to me) around.
