The building part of the table is complete. Now on to painting the legs and finishing the top.

Re: Scrap metal art or projects

I love the creative and imaginative top. BUT I especially like this feature....

I can’t help but think a heavy hunk of I beam for a pedestal on the end to replace the two legs would compliment the “heavy” look.

Re: Scrap metal art or projects

    Thanks you two.
I do have a couple of pieces of I beam that could work as legs.

The large piece on the right is 5"×16" and about 36" long. The other is 5×8 or 10 and about 16" long.

I guess I could stand them on end. The small piece on the one end and the other straddling the fork.

I painted the existing legs a hammered black.

Fantastic! Is this a commission, and any idea what it weights?

No, it is not a commission. I just saw an idea and wanted to make my version of it. I will put it in an art gallery and see what happens. I may list it on Etsy as well.

That table is slick. I like the sides.

Many a breakup of pairs involving young children has necessitated In the hiring of an au pair..... or two.

And some halves of the former pairs have ended up pairing up with the au pair.

Got started on my version of @acourtjester chop saw stand today.

Actually started yesterday, but as a noob - the first try at the vertical frame ended up racked out of square. After some videos on youtube I understood what I was doing wrong (rushing). After fixing a cheapo corner clamp to hold things square, the next two pieces came out great. I did manage to make the horizontal frame shorter than I think it is supposed to be. I believe I can work with it though.

Especially true when the au pair has a good pair.

Got the front counter support cut and risers added for the customer window at my buddies yard.

As long as we never get to the point where any old pair will do.

This is not my work. I just saw it on the Facebook group "Welding Tips and Tricks". They are not affiliated with Jody of the same type of name.

I thought it was neat trick and wanted to share with people here. He did not indicate the gauge of metal he was using.

The guy needed to make a dome out of some sheet metal. He welded the stud to the table then tightened down on the top nut.

Thanks. I asked for clarification on the line you see in the third pic. He said he cuts a slit or small wedge out of the disc towarda the center. But not all the way to the edge. As it pulls down, the wedge closes and that is when he stops. You could use that principle to make cones in various sizes.
