I thought that might be what it was from.
If that is the case, it should be pretty old.
I like the character of the pieces in the center instead of straight spokes.

I am not sure what the wheel went to. Unfortunately, he only had one. I think if I had a set of two of them, I would hang onto them until I found a nice cart idea to use them.

duplicate the spokes from flat stock and weld it to a hub as well as spot weld the spokes to some through holes on the outside perimeter of the wheels. YOU CAN DO IT " in a Rob Schneider voice"

I needed some 2" solid square bar. A guy on Facebook says he has four 12 foot long pieces. I paid $240 for a 20 foot stick of 2" not too long ago. So when we agreed to a price of $180 for all four pieces, I was pretty happy. This guy buys abandoned lots and flips them so is not savvy to what he had.

On arrival it turns out it is actually 1.5" square but stainless. After telling him I can't use it for that project he drops the price and I get four pieces of stainless for $115.

He then shows me some scraps he has and it turns out to be 2.5" square. That would work even better for my project but not what is advertised. I priced it out the other day and a 20 foot stick of 2.5" is $460. We agreed that I could get a total of 60 feet of 2.5 inch for another $130.

Add in some odds and ends including one piece of 1" by 12 foot stainless allthread and then two pieces of 3/4" steel hex and other small stuff and it was another $55 so I am happy.

I came across what I consider to be another deal.
80 pounds of Er70S-2 tig rods in 3/32" for $150. The 10 pound tubes are still sealed.

I would expect Amazon to be higher anyway, 1 year ago I bought the same filler and dia at my LWS for $2.94 per pound, I probably
got 1 or 2 lbs worth, so I'd say you did get a good deal. (not that me saying so matters )

Been looking for a 2x36 or 2x48 belt grinder to augment my 2x72 grinder..... and this baby finally popped up on the FB Marketplace.




The Spec plate on it is cast aluminum and reminiscent of the plates you find on vintage machines. The 1/2hp motor turns nice and provides more oomph than my 1/3hp bench grinder that I use for quickly knocking off burrs and wire brushing scale off forged pieces. It's not as powerful as my 2x72, but the 48" belts should last a good long while and put out less dust than the little stone wheels I've been putting up with. For how I plan to use it, the motor should be more than adequate.

I'm not seeing this model on the Jet website, so I'm assuming that it's been discontinued in favor of the 8" model. Not having a sticker for the spec plate would seem to me to indicate that it's fairly old, but it doesn't look like it's been used heavily. There are a couple little things that need tending to, but it runs like a champ and I think a good cleaning will take care of the few issues that need addressing.

Had to drive an hour to pick it up, but I was able to take the back roads and enjoy some wonderful scenery the whole way. That, and it only cost $155. To buy it new, or grab one of those Multitool grinder adapters for my current bench grinder would have set me back at least $250. So, yea, overall it's been a good day.

Nice score Vaughn. Are you going to run it off 110 or 220? I would think that it wouldn't bog down if run on 220.

It's wired for 110. Not sure what'd happen if I rewired it to take 220!!!

I thought it might be a bit sluggish or bog down easy, but it worked well on a scrap of wood that I tried on it. Every bit as good as my 1/3hp bench grinder, and I'm really looking forward to putting a wire wheel on the other side so I can see how well it scrubs the scale off of the dishes I forge.

OfferUp has been good for me too - picked up the drill press for free and just got (4) 8" steel casters with solid rubber tires for $25. They're slated to go on an as yet unbuilt welding table that I want to make.

Also have done well on that Facebook Marketplace (about all FB is good for) - mostly for scrap engine parts, steel cut offs, etc.

Ages ago, a fine craftsman sent me a business card holder made from a 1" bolt. The genius tacked a nut on the end so it'd sit level, then milled a nice groove down the centerline to hold a dozen or so business cards. Super slick design and very handy.

And what about the fiber strand to hold it together and keep from stretching. Looks like extension cord to me. I’d have no problem using it as such.

Hmm either way I’d still use it as an extension cord. It doesn’t appear to of had any problems rolling it up for storage.

I'm not an electrician, but seeing how the cords I use at work are 10ga versions of this one, I'm sure my research is sound.

That cord looks ok to me.
Stranded copper conductors make for a good extension cord.
Aluminum or solid copper conductors don’t.
(Like Romex)
