Re: The new Lincoln Square wave 200 TIG
Have you put a gas lens on it yet? The difference is quite noticable to me. You can lower your gas flow 25% and if you put a shorter gas hose on it the surge gas volumn will be reduced as well saving gas. You can check all that with a portable gas flow checker.

I have a gas lens, and a cording to my flowmeter I an running about 15cfh. I had my stick out about 1/2" to get into the i inside of the joints. I always try to pre flow by tapping the pedal a couple of seconds before I light an arc.

Gas lense is 1000% the way to go... maybe sometimes when running ac/aluminum a standard #5 or 6 collet and collet body would be better but that would be it... even when running AC i still use a gas lense most of the time.

Good eye. Me too. Not much there to hold the gas against the tube like a fillet.

Re: The new Lincoln Square wave 200 TIG
Has anyone purchased one of those cheap sub $10 flow testers ? On my Square Wave I'm seeing a difference of 5-7 cfh to the cheap flow tester. I have tried 2 separate quality flow meters. There is for sure no leaks from the meter to the solenoid, also from dinse to cup. So, if there is any leak it would have to be inside from solenoid to dinse. I feel the cheap tester is just that. Too lazy to pull the welder apart just yet.

Re: The new Lincoln Square wave 200 TIG
Mine is holding up just fine. Probably 2 years old now maybe more? Bought it when they had that 2 for $2000 deal.
Is it that much better to use flowmeter than regulators? I’ve been using the two regulators included with my machines but have considered switching if it’s worth the $60-80 for a pair of flow meters.

Ive tried them... the one from arc zone was WAYYY off for me. im running a miller/smith flowmeter that was $130 so im pretty sure its accurate. I ended up getting the CK flow tester and its spot on from what i can see...

Hence the reason to confirm the fixed flowmeter with the portable one at the nozzle. The Victor is off just like mine are all over the place.

Re: The new Lincoln Square wave 200 TIG
Yeah, I have the ArcZone one. I highly doubt I have an internal leak from solenoid to dinse. I think the ArcZone tester is just a POS. Simple enough.
That said, for my home use welder, I'm very happy with this square wave 200. Kinda does whatever I ask of it. I have looked at possibly switching to a Syncrowave like I use at the shop, but don't see the point. The only welder that seems to be appealing to me is maybe the HTP 221. In the auto industry (at least for turbo kits and whatnot) I really don't need more than 200 amps. I always look at these full feature machines, then when I sit down and get busy, it seems like I find myself at 70hz and 70 balance. And unless I'm laying a bead around a thin piece of aluminium on the edge cause I just dont want to buy a bead roller, thats when I crank it up to 125-150hz. But, usually I never mess around with the settings anymore. I'll admit, at first when I got this inverter, I played with all the features it offered. But the welds all were the same, only the noise changed from Bees to mosquito's

Exactly, you can't trust the gauge, just because it's a brand name. This was tested through a valve torch connected directly to the flowmeter. Just tested a single victor flowmeter I have and get 23 on the flow tester at 20 on the gauge. About 1CFH difference between the cheap and expendable flow testers

the machine for an inverter is HEAVY. Has to weigh 2.5x my razorweld
Fans on full time. When you have a welder next to your bench it blows argon around
It's loud
the big knob is nice but it's not very intuitive. If I spin it fast I want the numbers to go up fast. I felt like I had to spin it 10 times to get up to full amperage
No pre flow control. Usually your first weld bead looks like **** because of the minimal pre flow.
No post flow. I can't even being to tell you how stupid this is on lincolns part. I set my welder to 5 sec of post flow. This one was 16-17. I'm using literally 3 times the amount of gas to weld the same parts. I watched that tank drain 300psi in a few quick projects where as it would of hardly been noticeable on my other welder with post flow
Pulse. Pulse is great at less than 1PPS or more than 50. So their range from 1 -20 is pretty useless and annoying on the eyes
Not a fan of their torch and cable and ground clamp. Not at all.
The hot start is around 30 amps but it seems really inconsistent. The whole software side of it at starts and stops felt very inconsistent. Sometimes it would light off higher than other times. Sometimes the stops it would allow you to taper off at 10amps and other times it felt like 20 or 30. It would just cut off.
For some reason I feel like it welds/sounds like it's more of a soft squarewave vs a standard one. The noise seemed pretty high pitched at a low frequency. 80hz on this welder is oddly different than 80hz on my other welder.
Overall I just think it didn't weld that great which was probably the worst part. It the sticker on the side said harbor freight then it would make sense. It says lincoln and should weld like a high end company made it, but it doesn't. They really kicked their own *** by dropping the V205 model. I'd love to try the aspect and see if it's worth a lick.
I think with a software update, fan on demand, pre/post flow control it could be an ok little machine. But for me; I am VERY disappointed.
Gamble it is pretty obvious that you like peddling your cheap Chinese welders and have a big bias towards USA Welder brands.
I normally would not waste my time but since your ignorant comments might confuse a new buyer that does not know any better let me clear a few things up from your post.
I think the power cord adapters suck. Too easy to break and not easy to replace from a local store
Incorrect
They are standard NEMA twist locks that you can get from any hardware store. You could go to lows and get the parts to make either a 120v or 240 volt together for a few bucks.
the machine for an inverter is HEAVY. Has to weigh 2.5x my razorweld
The Lincoln weights 46lbs are you saying your Chinese razor weld weights 18lbs? I highly doubt that. I think most weldors on here can lift 46 lbs. Edit I just looked it up the razor comes in at 66lbs I guess your argument gives a point to the Lincoln
Fans on full time. When you have a welder next to your bench it blows argon around
Yea its loud and moves air that is what fans do, Don’t point them at what you are welding.
No pre flow control. Usually your first weld bead looks like **** because of the minimal pre flow.
Just tap the pedal once or twice to purge your line, No problem.
No post flow. I can't even being to tell you how stupid this is on lincolns part. I set my welder to 5 sec of post flow. This one was 16-17. I'm using literally 3 times the amount of gas to weld the same parts. The post flow will vary with amperage so at low amps it does not have 15sec, it comes down to 5-6 seconds.
Not a fan of their torch and cable and ground clamp. Not at all.
This one is great here, The Lincoln Has USA made Torch, Pedal and cables. The cables are all ultra-flexible USA made High Strand Count Copper with Vulcanized rubber insulation. As opposed to some of the cheap stiff plastic others come with, The ground clamp has copper jaws with a connecting strap, The torch is there industrial USA made Magnum 17 Flex torch. Once again as good as it gets. These are where the extra money goes when you buy from a Great brand like Lincoln.
So how is it you do not like the high quality USA made cables again?
