Oh boy, Popcorn time if the "experts" see this.. Dang those are some Fugly looking welds on a trailer hitch no less

Not to mention if that it the only point of attachment of the receiver then the sheer and twisting forces on those welds due the distance to the ball and lever action applied is going to be very high.

The worst part is he lives in my city. I may encounter that hitch first hand.

He doesnt understand that is a bad design and a baaad weld to boot. Been through all this on Hobart.

This thread shoud be locked as it did on Hobarts site.

The owner refuses to do any type of testing except for showing birdsh!t welds. Recons its up to everyone else to test it, but then procedes to tell us that its a great machine and the integrity of the weld are good ( the old " they look ugly but i know they will hold " )

Both Kildozerd and I spent a day demoing this machine with their tech at their office in Santa Monica, CA. Both our opinions are from first hand experience. He is just pissed he got shafted for $2k on this machine when he could have got a nice OA and mig stick or tig setup for what he paid for his toy.

Re: check this out a welder that uses water

I will never use this receiver even to carry a bicycles rack! I'm a hobby welder too and I know the limit I can past alone.... Welding body panel, sheet metal or anything not subject to structural stress can be done by mister "backyard engineer" at any streets corner.

All weld subject to great forces like torsion, heavy load lifting or in this case heavy load pulling have to be done be expert welder! I have done mine with my MIG and since I'm new to MIG welding I ask one of the pro welder were my stepbrother work to supervised my job! he approved my work and without him , I never try carry my camping trailer with that hitch...I learn from this experience but even after a 10,000 miles road test I never consider to do another one, I leave this to certified welders doing it for living. You can't put others’ lives in danger! One question always came back in my mind and I'm not a "Drama queen"...

Can you forgive yourself if your hitch broke and you kill young kids and their mother?
