Nice work. You did a great job on those laterals. They cab be tough to try balusters and post in the same plane.

Those are some awesome rails and gates. How do you fasten the post to the rock or concrete? Are you drilling through it?
What do you find is the most effective method to fasten any of your rails to the structure or ground? Thanks for any help!

Thanks! I use a hilti core drill, and use anchoring cement which is a type of hydraulic cement, which is my favorite method, it's actually sturdier than going into the ground 24-30" with a footing

This is how I weld the cast iron caps to the steel posts, no problems, it spits a little when your welding to far over onto the cast but it works perfectly

For what it is worth. I weld caps on occasionally...if I think it might be used as a handle. However, I prefer to use adhesives on many caps and finials. Adhesives allow the post and cap to be thoroughly painted. I think it also keeps the appearance of the two individual elements. Use of adhesive also allows the placement of cap at anytime after other welding is complete.

Here's he job I finished today, about 54' of pool fencing with a double gate.

I couldn't finish yesterday because I forgot my welding helmet , and my tweco fabricator 141i stopped working (yes I would've tried without a helmet)

So I had to make 2 trips halfway across the state instead of one

Hey guys, I'm back after awhile, work is crazy right now, don't have much time to post

But here's a big railing job I'm working on in greenwich, theres over 200 feet if railing, and about 14 feet of radius


I'm behind the ball in this job, but I'm pulling in some people to help out and get it done

Check this out, I got a job at a local bank, making some aluminum ADA handicap rails, I mig welded 1-1/2" SCH40 6061 with my spool gun, then sanded it with a D/A sander, 60grit to give it a satin sheen, I didn't have the time to order an elbow for the return so I just cut and welded my own return (which I think looks pretty cool)



On site I stick welded the sections together, I'm seeing the benefit of having aluminum electrodes on the truck, way faster and simpler than bringing my TIG and running it off the welder. With a little practice one can run a decent uphill bead with these aluminum rods.

Railings look nice man. Good on you for running aluminum stick rod for something like this. Not able to interface your spool gun with your gen? My 30a ran nice off my trailblazer haven't run it off the bb500 yet but I imagine it runs every bit as nice.

Far as I can figure, I just need to make a DC power source to power the spool gun motor, hooking up the leads is simple enough

Here's 2 gates I'm working on today, the same as the one I made earlier this year

Here's the radius stuff I been working on last couple days, it's part of a larger job, 292 linear feet total.

Here's the jig I set up to make the 11" wide decorative panels, made with 1.5" posts and 8" circles.


Heres a panel clamped down to the table ready to be welded out. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to control the warpage on these panels, took me 2 or 3 days to figure out the order to weld the joints to eliminate warpage.



Here I'm rolling the horizontal members with my HF roller (soon to replaced with a real roller)



And here you can see my jig for setting the picket spacing, which are 3/4" solid square.


And here's a good view of a panel clamped to the 39' 5" radius form that I built.

It has too much slop, it tends to curl or twist the piece you're rolling. So the piece ends up bent in two axis instead of one.

Nice work man. Most of what I do is handrails also. I like your ideas and creativeness. I have one of the HF rollers also and got the mod kit from SWAG Offroad to turn it into a power roller. Works pretty good.
