Sweet! I made a drum funnel out of one of those. I welded a 2" nipple to the bottom half, and I screw it into the drum and it will hold the filters while they drain.
I thought somebody might enjoy seeing my version of a mini charcoal grill. Kind of a fun little project, and I believe we will enjoy using it from time to time.
Here is a picture of the before and after:

Looks good nice use of the handles.
Looks nice. Did you put a vent in the top? What did you do for legs?
I have decided I need a vent in the top, so I plan to do that today. Also, going to put some expanded metal in the bottom for the charcoal to sit on. I'm hoping that will get the charcoal to burn hotter. I tried it out and while it burned ok, it was not as hot as I expected.
Any ideas or suggestions on that?
For the legs, I had a small piece of 14 gauge steel tread that was already bent 90 degrees, so I sliced off 4 1"x5" strips to use for the legs.
Everything used was from the scrap pile, so no cost except for hi-temp paint.

That's awesome!
Thanks, DOC!
Do you put a vent or smoke pipe on the top? Do you use a charcoal grate in the bottom? I would like to see pictures for ideas.
BTW, a 1/4" rod works great for a prop arm. I simply drilled holes in the dimple feet and used a rod 6" long (plus 1" each end for the bent part) and it is perfect for holding top at 2 positions. Plus drilled another hole to use the rod to keep it closed when transporting.
I'm going to make another one soon, and think these would be very handy for tailgating or picnics.
I can add dimensions and tips if anyone is interested. This is a fun, useful project. I'm sure you could sell these at festivals, ballgames, etc.
