I hear ya on rough terrain, my cemented area is too valuable for carts (like open workbench space haha)
Long hoses and leads are your best bet in that situation, I use a suitcase feeder or stick leads to move around instead of dragging the welders all over my mostly gravel place.
Various length leads with connectors and hoses with quick connects are the ticket here.
PS Gravel can be a pita, but ya dont sweep gravel

I routinely move around between 3 sheds in the yard , 2 with gravel floors so I understand where you're at. I haven't built anything yet, but I was thinking along the lines of an Indy crash cart that I could pull behind the garden tractor or quad. Larger, wider tires is definitely a must on rainy days. I think somewhere on here someone posted pics of a self propel version... I think they used some parts from a garden tractor and some from a golf cart?

Don’t know if this will help anyone or not but I have this wheelbarrow frame

and this this scrapped tool chest

    which I chopped

with plans to mount on a frame for the wheelbarrow running gear.

It would have a 30”x20” work surface with a small vise.

It only needs to be tilted a few degrees to move and should work well over unpaved surfaces. The concept might work for certain welders....

Something like this but IGNORE the plywood supporting the toolbox. That was just conceptual and a proper frame will be fabricated.

Looks great...... but.... you might have taken the bottom cut and done something like this.... to get a bit more storage.

Just dont overload the bottom box or it will be hard to pick up.

Those two wheeled carts are handy!!! I have used them a lot for moving lots of heavy stuff... never converted one like you did there... but might be a good future idea

I'll have to look at the neighbors I think they'll have a cart with good wheels hitting the scrap heap soon.... one of the horses freaked out the other day and pulled a 12 foot wall down, drug it 20 feet while slammin into another horse and sat on the back end of the cart... but the wheel parts looked ok... I think...

Should be okay for AIR tool storage.

No no no! The WELDER can be front mounted for counterweight.

There. I not only derailed but got the thread BACK on track all in one day.

A trick for moving heavy weights is put the large wheels in the center like these which would be easy to copy for far less money. https://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-u...ncolnElectric)

Ag supply stores have an interesting variety of wheels and hubs (including laminated solid mower wheels). Scaffolding casters can be had with 8" wheels and since they slide into tubing are a breeze to work with. (They can be pinned when you don't want them castering and have brakes.)

I scrapped the idea for using the wheelbarrow frame for a workbench.

    I made this portapotti today

and will save $200 monthly rental on this

I can’t wait to see what my maintenance yard tenants think of it

Easier to roll backwards while still sitting. Just watch your step when you get up, right?

Yep... you'll have to do the crabwalk if you roll back... or maybe that should be the crapwalk...

Here's what my helper and I put together to hold my Miller Dynasty 200DX tig, Hypertherm 45XP and Miller 211 mig. Used a Kennedy base cabinet for general storage, fabricated the cart from steel, and the cable hangars and top from aluminum. Tig wire storage is made from aluminum angle. Machines all plug into a box with a 50' cord. Wheels are ball bearing.

Here’s how I wired my two TA’s so that only one cord was plugged in for power.

Re: The Welding Cart Thread... Post 'Em Up!!

This is a test fitup before all the final touches where put on (gun holder, cable holders, tank straps etc). The design was largely influenced by super cheap 14ga 1x2 tube and 1/8" 1 1/2" angles at my local steel supply. Buying drops for the sheet and diamond plate all the materiel including the paint and wheels/casters came in at about $100. The black is spray bed liner

I had experimented with offsets and angles for a little while and this setup works well for me both sitting on a super low stool and standing. Everything is readable and reachable.

Between the wire feed and the power supply is a shelf for supplies. Its just 2 1 1/2 angles making a C- there's a backing inside it to keep it from being full length and stuff becoming unreachable. It holds a couple boxes of rods and a small homak parts organizer I found which is perfect for holding the various tips, feed wheels and other gun consumables.

There's just enough width to hold 2 tanks if I want to add a second, as long as I stay in the 80/125 size range 150 would be pushing it.

Thinking about cutting up a little more sheet and adding sides to the bottom.
