    Exclamation Friendly Reminder # 2....

Well it seems last night...someones wheels fell off someones wagon.
    It happens..I understand that.

    BUT.....

We mods (And I have stated this many times) try to run the place like Referees in a Hockey game.
We step in when needed to stop pushing and shoving..
We step in when needed to straighten things out...
We step in when needed to do whatever it is we have to do as things start unraveling...

We don't go looking for arguments and disagreements..
They get plopped in our laps.

We don't get ANY compensation for doing all this AT ALL but do it because someone has to.
And from what I have seen at many other sites?
This one is far and away the BEST in my estimation because of the way we try to handle things.

Some may not agree how we do things..
Some love the way we do things.
Many have been given minor penalties and come back out of the penalty box and all is good.
Some come out of the box and just want to start all over again.

    Yeah I get it.

    But in the end?

ANY ABUSE OF THE REFEREES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

    PERIOD.

We don't like handing out game misconducts but if it comes to it..
    Say Bye Bye.

Because WE WILL do it and not even think twice about it.
    And just like in hockey..
If you deserve it you will get it no matter WHO you are.

    ...zap!

    I am not completely insane..
    Some parts are missing

Professional Driver on a closed course....
    Do not attempt.

Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.
So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

    Re: Friendly Reminder # 2....

    Pretty well sums it up.

To further Steves comments- ANY direct attacks on a persons religion, beliefs, race, and so on (and everybody knows EXACTLY what I mean) will NOT be tolerated in any shape or form on this website. Yes, we have the religious and political threads, and have them for a reason. Anyone who ventures there knows the rules and knows they proceed at their own cyber risk so to speak. When a member (especially one that's intoxicated) begins randomly attacking or singling out members due to religious or other differences, it does nothing but create unwanted and unnecessary conflict and frankly is just ignorant and short sighted. Physical or other threats will be viewed the same.

Do it here and you're liable to get your ticket punched. Permenantly as far as bans go.

It simply will NOT be tolerated. Period.

Also, threats regarding hacking this site (or any site for that matter) with malware or viruses intended to disrupt or cause the site to crash will be grounds for an IMMEDIATE and permenant ban and IP address blocked. We won't EVEN play around regarding this either.

Like Steve made mention, this site has come a long ways over the last several years. He and the rest of the moderator staff (as well as some of our past moderators) have worked very, very hard to guide and oversee the process. We're far from perfect and we all have our foibles. If we make a mistake, it's likely one of the other mods or respected site members will bring it to our attention and we will do the right thing. I personally have a large stake in this site, and have put an untold amount of my personal time and efforts into the community here and will continue to do so because I love this site and think very highly of many of its members.

What happened last night hasn't happened in awhile. Quite awhile actually. Hopefully it will be a long time (preferably never) before it happens again.

Thanks to everyone who makes this site as great as it is.

    Steve

You guys do a great job. Good riddance I say, to anyone who comes here with a personal agenda and basically trolls the site looking to pick a fight. Remember, there is also the Ignore/block option if you have a problem with a member's posts or comments. We are all supposed to be adults here... Thus alcohol, drugs or not, you are still responsible for your comments and actions and use of intoxicants does not give anyone a free pass to violate the site rules. Period! What if they change there IP and come back? Is there any way to detect if and when they come back with different sn and IP? It seems like theres a phony or two out there now IMO.

The mods do a good job and giving enough rope to let him hang himself was the best way to handle it IMO.

No matter how many IP's they try, you will definitely know if a banned person was trying to return. For some it's hard to get the poor judgement out of their system and it is easily detected.
A phony is one type, someone that degrades or belittles others is uncalled for. There are some sensitive members here you are almost afraid to write anything because of how they were treated.

Yes they do the job and as far as I'm concerned very fair. Alot can be done with PM's and an open mind.

Yeah, the IP thing isn't ironclad and it's not always 100% for determining a persons actual location. It does tho, give us a general idea and if someone joins, then creates several troll IDs (fdcmiami is a good example) we can at least use the sites software to narrow it down. It doesn't always give us an exact match, but we check other things (I won't mention them for obvious reasons) to determine if we may possibly know them or not by a different name. We don't ban IPs very often, because it can affect several users who may also share it. It's a case by case thing most of the time.

Truthfully, as Bob pointed out most end up giving themselves away (fdcmiami is a good example) because they just don't know how to keep their mouths shut. It really doesn't matter, because even the nastiest stuff they post can be deleted with the touch of a button. I've silently banned and made several problem members miserable users (fdcmiami is a good example) without making any big announcements about it. Once the BS starts to flow out of their mouth, we just pull the plug. I'm sure there are a few ppl out there who wonder why the hell they can't seem to log in to the site, or why it won't load up for them on their computer. I'm not in any way saying I gloat over stuff like this, but the ones who I have given the boot myself had it coming for some time and did it to themselves. Some make IRL threats and all I have to say about that is I'm not a hard guy to find. Bring your A game because I always being mine. On the Internet, anyone can be a tuff guy. I have nothing to prove and anyone who knows me knows that.

It's nice to have the tools and frankly, the authority to act when we deem it necessary. In times past, banning someone was a drawn out event, and permission had to come from "higher up". The administration department we had at that time was very slow at responding to issues and would let things drag on almost indefinitely before finally acting. Now, we have basically been given permission by admin up front to do what we have to. It's a very big thing on Pentons part, entrusting us with the "keys of the kingdom" so to speak as Ellen put it. But we have proven over time that we can be trusted with what we have been given, and will act responsibly with the authority we have been granted by them.

There's good and bad to doing this job. I think the good far outweighs the negative tho.

    IMHO of course

I know theres ways to get around the IP thing but for obvious reasons I wont mention.

One thing Ive noticed is peoples styles of writing. I think that gives them away. Ive always try to wright the way I talk. Im not impressed with big words unless theres no other way to convey. One exception is elephantsh!t. Yep, thats the biggest word I know

Thanks to the mods for being so forgiving

I too tried logging in to see. One thing I'm sure of is that I can offend someone without knowing it. Sometimes I'm dumbfounded to learn of it.

The way I look at that is if I offended you and did not mean to I don't care it is your problem. If I offended you and meant to I don't care either. I think some people spend their entire life being offended by something. I just say what is on my mind and play it how they want to play it.

People on the autistic side have a tendency to say offensive things but don't consider what they said offensive.
