I fixed a fireplace that was made out of cast iron. It had 3 legs that were bolted on. One of the bolts broke off from rust and couldn't be replaced. So I cleaned both sides of the legs and MIG brazed it with silicon bronze wire. So far it's been ok but we are careful not to bump it around. MIG brazing is fast and ductile. No cracking issues.

This should have had some 4x4 x1/2 flat stock welded to the bottom plate at each leg position. Now put the welder away.Drill and tap each square and bolt the legs on to the plate. Those legs are cast iron from a stove. The are some jobs that shouldnt be welded. My wood stove has square tubing legs welded to the bottom plate. This would have worked on the barrel stand.
