.Yes.
ever notice some inverters do not like running 6011 and 6010 to rod amp maximum without arc getting unstable ? that is you can use 6010 only if you do not use high amps for the rod size
.
3/32 6010 5P usually rated like 40 - 80 amps
and with welders made to burn it you can run it at 80 amps and rod will be smoking hot if you burned to last 2" all in one go
. i got inverter welder it will run 6010 5P like 40-60 amps (rod rated 40-80) but above 60 and i got to really shorten up arc length and keep it moving either weave or whip, gets really bad above 70
.
even 6011 can run 40-70 amps (rated 40-80) but again above a certain amps arc gets more unstable before rod overheats
.
same even with 1/8 rod 6010 5P rated 70-130 amps
can run on inverter at 70-100 but again above a certain amps about 100 arc gets unstable, unless really shorten arc length and keep it moving
.
1/8 6011 rated 80-125 amps
but more stable 70-115 amps on inverter. that is arc gets unstable before rod over heats from too many amps
.
at 120 amps can jump to 5/32 6011 (rated 130-160 but runs 100-140 ok) and arc ok again but at 140 again arc gets unstable again even though rod rated for more amps. somehow arc is different (arc voltage ?) on inverters when on the high amp side of normal amp range and different when on the lower end of amp range for rod size
.
that is with inverter cannot run 6011 or 6010 to rod amp max where rod would be smoking and or red hot like you can with older transformer welders. that is arc much more stable not overheating the rod. that is use bigger rod at the lower half of recommended amp range

.Yes.
i think your upper pareameters you listed for 1/8 6010, 11, are a lil warm, for my taste anyway. i don't think i ever ran 6010 1/8 above 110amps. i havent had the problem you describe w/ 1/8 6010, but i do smoke 3/32, not just on inverters, but all welders. not sure why, maybe i'm trying to do more w/ 3/32 6010, than it was meant to be pushed. i'm not saying your wrong, you might have a better sense than i do, i just havent noticed it myself, i don't think inverters are the real deal 100%

Whats it called when you see a long winded post and you just zone out?
Its like like you cant even get motivated to force yourself to read it?
when I see tom and the letters 6011 /6010... I start to shake...
Just bustin ya, Tom.

1/8 6010 5P rated by Lincoln 70-130 amps and i have used often (over 37 years welding) at 120-130 amps where rod is near smoking hot limit of rod. works very good on old motor generator type welding machines. i run 1/8 rod 70-130 amps depending on thickness being welded.
.
you cannot run 6010 rod red hot cause the cellulose flux will burn literally. i always test welding machine amp knob calibration. technically 1/8 6010 i would deliberately burn at 130 amps rod in one use stop and look at last 2" or rod and see if smoking hot, red hot, or not even smoking at all
.
3/32 7018 is easy, rated 70-110 on DC, so i run a rod at 120 amp setting and when down to last 2" i see if rod cherry red hot. should be dull red hot at 110 amps when in inside room lighting. outside in sunshine hard to even see cherry red hot rod

just another weekend welder burning some rod on Sunday. i made weld amp chart and i test limits. i still got 30 lbs of 6010 which i do not use much since i bought inverter welders a few years ago.
.
still can use 6010 on my inverter welder as long as i use amps on the low to mid recommended range. definitely crappy rod to use when on the high amp side of recommended amp range
You need to start thinking of projects to use that rod Tom.
I think project #1 should be a telephone booth made from 2" flat stock / 1/4" with a sheet metal top and plexi glass sides.
old school style.
Inside:
Instead of having a phone, you can engineer a high speed cell phone charging input.
with a seating bench and videos of your choice to watch while you wait. (for an additional fee)
10 minutes and your phone is charged.
If you chose to include adult videos, I'd consider a paper towel hanger and wet naps.
patent pending, so please PM me if you chose to move forward on this project.

alright, good it works for you. i myself only use it for pipe only , and couldn't imagine myself trying to do it that hot
The only use I can see for running 6010-11 hot is for cutting stuff where quality isn't a factor. Soak the rods in water and have at it. Works to sever aluminum or stainless steel pretty well

if working on the roof or high up on a steel beam and welding machine over 100 feet away and 3 stories down if machine at 120 amps you can run 1/8 or 5/32 6010 depending if you want it hot or not so hot. i usually find a amp range i can use 2 different size rods. at 75 amps could use 3/32 or 1/8 6010
