A Quick Word About Inappropriate User Name IDs. PLEASE READ

I just recently banned an individual who registered under a name that sounds almost identical to the big Mother F'er.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT GOING TO FLY HERE.

Sure, many of us can get quite colorful with certain terms and words. I am no exception to that fact either. We try to keep it, as Doug always said a strong PG 13 rating around here. We do not wish to moderate this site to the extreme degree that some others feel the need to do.

HOWEVER.... User names, siglines, links to inappropriate material (I do not need to elaborate) with intentional or deliberate references to, or plays on words that represent or sound like profanity are ABSOLUTELY NOT ALLOWED here under any circumstances.

Anyone found to be doing so will be banned immediately, without hesitation.

We're not a bunch of prudes here who feel the need to censor the membership of this fine site, but some things are simply just not going to be permitted. I think most everyone here possesses enough common sense to know this.

For those that do not, or feel the need to push the envelope, you will not be a member here for long.

Bottom line, if it's something you KNOW is going to attract the wrong kind of attention, please refrain from going there.

    Many thanks. WW Moderation/Administration Team.

I agree. People can choose appropriate screen names - it's not that hard

    I strongly disagree with this.

The user in question did nothing wrong, in my opinion. Just like hundreds before, he/she came for welding advice, posted a picture, read the responses, and followed up with more questions.

So the username contained something meant to sound like a "dirty word", so what? We had a member for years using the name "Fat Bastard" and nobody seemed to care. And I've seen worse over the years.

And yet this user got banned just because a couple of thin-skinned ninnies can't seem to handle the fact that every site they go to on the internet is not their personal "safe-space."

My suggestion to my fellow mods is this: Lets stick to removing spam/porn, quelling flame-wars and resist the urge to become WeldingWeb's Morality Police by trying to protect everyone's feelings.

Sorry man. I don't think it would have went anywhere good. Not at all.

Nobody is playing "morality police" here. After where We have seen this site come from, there's no way we're going back there again. Not to mention we are quite lax when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Some things are just not a good idea. This was one of them
