If it came with an owners manual did you read it??

So I have a Hobart 140. Been practicing with the sample spool that came with the unit. I finally went thru it, but here is the thing. As soon as it exited the spool, it stopped feeding when the wire went past the bearing. I guess techically, it makes sense since there is nothing driving the wire, so does the 8 feet of wire that's left in the gun become unusable and has to be pulled out by hand? Which is what I did, and threw it away. Actually, I fed a new spool and had 2 wires hanging out of the end. Is this normal?

Yes I did, multiple times, dont remember reading that part. I'll have to look at it again
Yep that's normal. Once the wire gets past the feed rollers the rest is waste
but you don't have to throw it out you can use it to ty something up or as tiny
Tig filler.
Cool thanks that's the answer I was looking for!
No problem, happy to help.
